If You Knew Then, What You Know Now?
Ok, now that I see how this thing works a little better, and have already taken some unwanted abuse, I will put it plainly.....If you knew then, what you know now, would you have chosen the Lap band instead??? positive replies appreciated please Thank you.

No....Not I.
I considered Lap Band and did my research it and at the same time I was researching RNY.
If I had to choose again....RNY for me!
It has saved my life!

1) NO, not in a friggen million years nor for a million dollars. I've seen too many lapbanders either fail or have their band fail them (which is more likely the problem).. No WAY did I want a foreign object in my body for the rest of my life. Mechanical failures are high.
2) I don't like being told how to friggen answer a damn question. Open forum, and you have to take the answers you don't necessarily care for along with those that you do..
3) Please don't mix me up with the other Kelly. She has recently taken flak for shit I said (in another thread a long time ago, and I've only recently learned that she is being held accountable/responsible for that 'dustup' when it was not her. (This is said only as an FYI, not for any other reason)

nope. went in originally wanting the lapband and was talked out of it by my surgeon.
the more I learn about it, about how "fiddly" it is, how many more longer term complications there are, and how difficult it would be to get adjusted once you change insurance, I don't think it would have worked for me.
In fact, Dr and I were talking the other day during my appointment and he said "if someone weighed the long term complications of Lap Band against the long term complications of other GB, I doubt they would approve it." There are far more incidents of bands failing, bands being rejected by your body, and complications after a few years.
