My surgeon said the same thing about rejection, and that eventually the band would fail because it is mechanical. That sealed the deal with me. Knowing that once he sewed me back together and that bond healed it was good as new. Not a machine.

Personally lap band was never an option for me, but I think sometimes people choose it just because it is the easier surgery and tends to be less painful.

I had RNY, and I regretted it for a good long while before finally deciding it was the best decision I've ever made. HOWEVER--that is because I got very, very ill after my surgery. Who knows if the same thing would have happened with lapband? And who knows if I would have lost this much weight?

However, when choosing between lapband and RNY, I was always pretty stuck on RNY. My doctor asked me why I wasn't interested in lapband (since I was so young, etc.), and I said, "Because I want to dump. I want something to hold me accountable." And now, I really don't dump. Go figure

I wouldn't take it back for the world. Being that sick for that long changed my life in ways I could never have forseen. Everything has a purpose. So in short, I am very happy with my RNY

I'm 6 months out, down about 80 pounds and I wouldn't change a thing. I still wish I could have done it without the surgery but I'd do the surgery all over again, 100 times over.

I actually never considered the Lap band, because I wanted a permanent and organic change that would not need adjusted. I didn't want the psychological burden of a "device," *I* wanted to change. And I've never regretted it, though it's sometimes been difficult.

Trying so hard to get back on track, face that I can't do it alone, stop beating myself up for my failings... UPDATE: Well, after the 7 lb. drop last week, this week I didn't lose *anything*. Didn't gain, but it's discouraging.
