No, I don't wish I had chosen the lap band. I'm very satisfied with my RNY. In fact, I have since learned some things about the lap band that make me even happier I did not choose it. It can cause some serious complications, such as erosion of the esophagus. The body can reject it, because it is a foreign object. Many people fail to lose weight with the lap band and later go on to get an RNY. Some insurance companies don't even cover the lap band anymore for these reasons.

Now, I know some people do very well with the lap band. And the RNY can have serious complications, too. But you're asking about my personal choice, and I'm glad I chose what I did.

Kelly

Robin!

Do you like to argue? Its stupid. You are detracting from your own thread. You asked for polite comments. Just let it go. Damn! I dont get it.

If someone hits your car with theirs are you gonna get out and beat the tar out of them.

Enough already.

I would do RNY all over again. The Lapband was never an option for me. Like MistyMe, I didn't want that foreign object floating around inside me.

Did I miss something? I've seen heated threads but this one seemed to blow without escalation!

I'm pre-op but like a lot of people on here the lap band was sort of the 'gateway' procedure to get me interested in WLS. After seeing the statistics and before/after pics I changed my mind the night of the info session.

There are plenty of success stories with the band, but both procedures have the same tyes of hardship. I'd hate to go through all of the work only to have a greater risk of failure and a slower rate of weight loss.
