Default insomnia... feels like a pill is kind of stuck.

I hate insomnia...

I swallowed some pills around 11 pm last night.. here it is, 3:20 AM and I'm still awake.

I'd rather be sleeping.

I still feel like the pill is stuck, but it can't be.. I've eaten a bit of yogurt and then more recently a bit of cheese (with fluids in between) with no problems at all.. it doesn't hurt anymore, it just feels like it's there, if that makes any sense. I felt a bit of nausea earlier but not so much now.. just this sensation that something is there.

Thoughts? (will probably have to wait a few hours for most of y'all to get up for help though, I know )

No, not really.

Very early out, I'd had things stuck, but nothing in well over a year. In the past when something was stuck, I'd get the foamies till I tossed it up. This is nothing like that, just this feeling that there is something about halfway down my throat.

Keep an eye on it and see if it starts to happen more often. Its reminds me of something me and my mother both have. Its Esophageal pouches (diverticula). There is different kinds and for me it seemed to comes on over night .

Its like I woke up one day and it was there. My moms was worse then mine and further down the esophagus. Its a small pouch that develops in the esophagus. Mine is tiny and catches small pills and peanuts, stuff like that.

My moms was much larger and caught food. You could actually see her neck had a lump in it at one time. She had to have surgery. Mine is so small its just annoying because sometimes when I swallow a small pill I can feel it go down so far and it just gets stuck. I can cough and swallow until I dislodge mine but mom couldn't. She thought she actually had a tumor on her neck at one time it was getting so large.

But after gastric bypass no telling what it could be. Just something to watch for. It may even be something you can develop because of the surgery itself

Zenker's Diverticula: A pharyngeal pouch or Zenker's diverticulum is probably caused by an incoordination between movement of food out of the mouth and relaxation of the cricopharyngeal muscle. This diverticulum can fill with food, which may be regurgitated when the person bends over or lies down. This may also cause food to be inhaled into the lungs during sleep, resulting in aspiration pneumonia. Rarely, the pouch enlarges and causes swallowing difficulty and sometimes a swelling in the neck.

Midesophageal Diverticula: A midesophageal pouch or traction diverticulum is caused by traction from inflamed lesions located in the chest outside the esophagus (mediastinum) or, secondarily, by esophageal movement (motility) disorders. A traction diverticulum rarely causes symptoms, but the underlying disorder may.

Epiphrenic Diverticula: An epiphrenic pouch or diverticulum occurs just above the diaphragm and usually accompanies a motility disorder (such as achalasia or esophageal spasm). An epiphrenic diverticulum rarely causes symptoms, but the underlying disorder may.

Wow.. all that is a bit unnerving!

From that it seems it comes and goes?

That feeling lasted most of the night, but the feeling is gone now. I got a few hours of sleep finally, this AM.

Yes, I've heard of this before. The cure is very simple.

You need a vacation!

this happens sometimes to me as I take a lot of meds, usually some pink lemonade will help it along, seems to melt it better. also I heard of meat tenderizer with a little water.
