Period Help!! Cramps!!!
Okay this is a tad personal but i have to get some advise from the ladies.
I have (had) PCOS which caused me to not have periods regularly or at all for years and years. Well, i am 11 weeks out and have resumed my fun time now for the 2nd time since surgery. Wonderful, I know.. that shows my body is starting to get back to normal and so on. I am blessed to have it. But i am cursed by the fact that they are SOOOO painful. Maybe its i am not used to it.. maybe they are overly painful to start with. But i am like crippled by it. Tylenol pain relief lasts maybe an hour. During that time I decided to get my workout done... Well 1/2 way through i was having to push through the pain to continue. I did, but now its just horrible. Any pain relieving secrets ya'll can disclose? There is so much we cant do.. i want to know what we can. Heating pad is very temperary and i end up with it for hours on end.
HELP!

Heather, I have the same problem. I have PCOS too, and went from only having 2 or 3 periods a year, to having one monthly now.
Unfortunately, Tylenol is pretty much your only choice for OTC pain relief. Try using a heating pad on your tummy...I find that helps with the cramps.
My first few cycles after surgery were VERY heavy and painful. Here recently, it is more normal though...so hopefully yours will change too.
If it's really bad, maybe your gyno can give you some Vicodin, or something similar.
I'm not sure if we can take muscle relaxers or not. I think so, but I'm not 100% sure.

same here. I've had PCOS almost all of my adult life from being so overweight.
My first 3-4 periods post op were so horrible there were some days i had to call into work. I was in so much pain from cramps and was passing HUGE and i mean huge clots of blood. I even went to the ER thinking i was hemoraging with all the blood and the pain.
Unfortunately, you just gotta stick it out for now. Tylenol didn't really help me, but i did take a muscle relaxer from my doctor a few times.
I started to become regular again after that, and have had very normal, controlable periods. I still panic and pray and everything else that i don't start bleeding that badly again every time i get it. so far so good, so i think it was my body playing catch up

I not only had horrible cramping but I also had heavy flows. So, we decided to put in an IUD. They also prescribed me Tylenol with codein. Some natural stuff you can try is Heating pads some of my things are those Heat wraps they are awesome. I also stand in the shower and point the shower head at my belly. It works good. i wish you the best!!!!

I have horrible menstral pain too. It's debilitately the first few days. I had an IUD placed right after my GBS and my periods have become normal like clock work now....(even though it says you may have less with the IUD). But mine are so painful that I can't do anything but lay in the bed and feel like I'm dying. I did go to the hospital one time after my IUD was placed and they said I was passing a blood clot and gave me morphine which helped for the time being, but come the next month it was almost just as bad. If I did not have the luxury of being on dialy Darvocet N 100 for my chronic back problem, I really do not think I would be able to handle it. I have almost went to the hospital a few other times over the course of the last 3 years since my GBS, but I just take extra Darvocet and pray it goes by fast. I don't remember mine being this painful when I first started as a teenager and they were pretty bad then. I also flow like a river to start too. The IUD is supposed to help slow that down also, but just my luck...it didn't do a thing for me. I will almost be happy when I go through menopause so I can get rid of this thing for good! I am thinking about having a tubal ligation this summer to get rid of the IUD to see if it makes them better. At this point, I'm ready to try anything.

Ewwwwwwww! I wonder if having my IUD removed though will help it because they were not this bad before my GBS and I had the IUD placed like 4 weeks after my surgery. I am sorta wondering if my problem has something to do with the IUD. Hmmmmmmmm.....

I had very painful HEAVY periods before surgery, aslo had spotting every single damned day. They finally got back to normal right before my surgery. Post op about 3 months I had the depo shot for birth control and now I'm back to spotting every single day and heavy yucky periods. WARNING TMI....Everytime I have intercourse I start my period all over again. Whats up with that??? My doc said its normal in the first six months of the depo shot but it kinda freaks me out. anybody have this trouble?

I too have an IUD for the same reasons as you- to hopefully help with the pain- it has helped with that I guess and I also just kind of like spot now a days but I seem to spot more days than having a regular period- ugggg
Have you asked if you have endometriosis? Thats what I have I have been scrapped a couple of times which does help but its not a permanent fix...I also have a tubal ligation - it has gotten better tho as the time goes by- good luck- I know the last thing on your mind when you are in pain is to exercise but it DOES help in my opinion
