Unhappy Getting Laid off?????

Well... I didn't go to work today, i've got a killer sinus infection... one of my friends called me and said that they had just took 8 people off the floor into the office and laid em off. 8 doesn't sound like alot, but our facility is small out on the floor there are around 40 people. I'm not sure yet what this will mean for my department. There is only 8 of us total and of course I'm the low senority. They said if not called back within 48 days they won't be.... it doesn't sound good

Here's hoping you don't get laid off. *Clink of glass filled with cool spring water*

I got laid off from my newspaper job in August 2007 and it turned out to be the best thing that happened to me. I had 23 years in and got a good severence package, and right about when the money ran out, I got a great job. So there's life after layoff.

Great weight loss.

I feel for you...it's BRUTAL out there! I'm hoping your still have a job when you return to work tomorrow.

Everyone I where I work is scared...there's no layoffs where I work (yet) but all of us have friends and family that have lost jobs and the job market (at least here in Minnesota) is UGLY!

I am so dreading this coming week....layoffs loom and I am the new guy on the block. Others in other departments have nothing to do at this point, and I am busy (sales department admin assistant), and I don't know how the higherups will view me - new guy or person of value who has lots to do.

All admins had their hours cut from 40 to 32 about 3 weeks ago. I work in industrial manufacturing, and it is hit very hard.

I was kinda expecting this...but didn't realize just how hard it would hit. I like my job, which is a big plus when you don't mind going to work each day. I've been stressed since I heard the news and trying not to turn to my comfort....food! I've figured my bills and trying to see what I can eliminate if I go on unemployment. If I knew it was for a couple of months, I could handle it....but who knows

Sorry to hear that! I look at our bills every month and check what can be eliminated or reduced just incase. Are they giving you a severance(sp?) package? Hopefully they will, that will help for a bit. I am really really sorry.
