How many people find it very difficuilu to eat and not drink? I get where almost can't do it, and I need to find out a easier way to make it work. I hop someone can give me a tip,

About a month before surgery, I broke the eating/drinking habit. By doing it beforehand, it made life after surgery easier for me.
It's hard to tell you how to do it, because it's mostly just a matter of willpower. Carry around a timer, or set your cell phone alarm, if that's an easier way of remembering it.
You WILL sabotage your weight loss if you don't comply with this rule. By drinking with (or too soon) to eating, you are creating a "slider food". This means the food is being pushed out of your pouch too soon, and you'll get hungrier faster.

I am just practicing it now but I have noticed that chewing your food enough and not needing a drink go together...at least for me on most things. I have found that the more I chew the food the less I NEED a drink, I definately still want it at this point but thats just a matter of breaking a habit I think.

That's a great habit to get into Diane. And you're right...if you chew your food properly, you really don't need a drink at all.
I don't even have liquid remotely near me when I'm eating. Otherwise, it's too easy to forget and start drinking.

its very important to adopt this habit, becasuse in the long run it will help keep the pounds off. If you really need to swallow liquid becasue you are eating very dry food, then by all means take a small swallow. But try to drink 8 ounces prior to you meal or 30 minutes after your meal. You must keep hydrated.

It might help to buy one of those small kitchen timers. Also eat your meals sitting at the table so grabbing a glass of water won't 'accidentally' happen.
Even at 11 months out ... I make sure my space is clear of any bottles of water etc. before I sit down and eat.
Hang in there Young Grasshopper!
You WILL prevail!

Yes, I've found that this is difficult and there really aren't any easy answers. Its willpower. Or..taking a drink too soon and throwing up. That always helps :-)

I struggle with it sometimes. I've become a clock watcher and I have to mentally slap my hands if I reach for a drink before it's time. With lunch *hardest meal for me without liquid* I have Mandarin oranges. They help moisten things up and get me through. I drain the light syrup off them and rinse and drain them before eating.

i wish i could follow rule, but i usually take 3 sips during the course of my meal at home. and when Im out to eat, I lose count, but the glass still remains over 75% full.
perhaps that'll be next week;s goal.
