My opinion is to go for ittttttt! i don't think you'll regret it!

now, as for your father, perhaps he's concerned for any risks associated with WLS.

Default Right on

Ya, I'm not sure if they would read the threads or now. They are somewhat computer illiterate, but who knows. On the other hand, I like to speak candidly here and may not want them running into messages I type. I have encouraged them to do much of their own research. The main thing I have heard from many people on here is that the general population has a very skewed idea of what gastric bypass really entails, and everything that a person has gone through to get to this point in their life. And you are right, if they have never been MO, they really can't understand. I am truly blessed for the insurance taking care of this. I imagine I still will have to pay my $2000 copay, but OMG, I would pay 200,000 for this! To me, it's priceless. Thank you for all of your support!

i studied WLS for years before i made the decision and finally found an insurance compay willing to cover it. I still have a long way to go being only about two months out. But i would jump through every hoop again to be where i am right now. i know there will be times i will be frustrated but have read enough here to know my TT family will be here with suggestions and encouragement to get me through those.
So congratulations on taking control of your life. i think your family is likely just worried. It is hard as has been said for people who have not experieced morbid obesity or even obesity to understand. The more education you can offer them on the subject the better. Although they still might not agree and will still have fears, that will help alleviate them to some extent.
i know my parents were worried for me, i am currently 54 and just had my surgery as i said. but things are going well and they couldnt be more delighted now.
I must admit, i do get a bit freaked out these days when i think of a robot inside cutting on me.. but it makes me a good piece of science fiction. lol
