Good Board Games?
It may be kind of cheesy, but my friends and I love playing board games. Anyone got any good ones they can recommend?
We have a lot.. we primarily play Scattergories, Trivial Pursuits (various editions), Scene It (also various editions), Taboo, 7 Deadly Sins, Balderdash and a handful of others whose names I can't recall... oh and Rook.. which technically isn't a board game, but its possibly the greatest card game ever.

Kid at heart
So, I like some of the kid games like Mousetrap Operation (hell, I just like putting the silly thing together and letting it go!), and Milton Bradley's Game of Life.
As for card games, Uno, and Miles Bornes (it's a race car card game - totally fun and awesome.)

If you like Trivia Pursuit...you might want to check out Cranium. It contains the concepts of Pictionary, charades and Trivial Pursuit all in one box Outburst is another one of my favorites. An example would be: You've got 60 seconds to shout out "Parts of the Body that Come in Pairs". No matter how numerous or humorous your choices are, you only get credit for the words that appear on the card.
I'm also a fan of word games. One of the newst games I got is called In a Pickle. Try to win a set of cards by fitting smaller things into bigger things -- Example: There's some juice in a pickle, in a supermarket, in a parking lot. Play the fourth word card to claim the set, unless one of your opponents can trump with a larger word. The player with the most sets at the end is the BIG winner!
As for card games, UNO is always fun. I also enjoy Egyptian Rat Screw (which can either be played sober or as a drinking game

Catchphrase is a fun one with tons of friends...they have a regular version and a musical version. But you need at least 6 people to really have fun. Unless alcohol is involved then it doesn't matter! LOL...
My kids got Pictureka for Christmas and it says for 6 and up but hubby and I love it too and with some grown ups think it would be tons of fun!
We love playing games...great thread!

Some good suggestions. I have never heard of Miles Bornes.. but I love card games and I love racing.. so I may check into that. And yeah imdaprincess, I have thought about Cranium numerous times, but it always seems so "busy." A lot of games they just put too much into.. but it has been around awhile, so I assume it's very playable and very fun.
I do have one of the catchphrase Andie, and I do rather enjoy it. My friend has Music Catchphrase and he brings it over some and its also very fun. But you are right, you really need about 6 people for it to be really good.
And if you guys get a chance, you may want to check out a board game called Loaded Questions. We have the "adult" version and my God it's hilarious. We absolutely love playing it with a group of friends.

Tribond is a lot of fun. You get three words or phareses and you have to figure what they have in common. Card games phase ten & skipbo.

Pictionary is one of our favorites. We also play the board game Survivor, based off the tv show. We play a card game called knock, which is lots of fun. Each person starts with three quarters, each person is dealt three cards... the object of the game is to get as high in points in a round before someone knocks or gets 31. You can either draw a card from deck or pick up last card played on your turn (oh forgot to mention, your cards have to be the same suit). For example... i have a 10 clubs a 3 clubs and a 10 hearts, my total is 13. If you think you have the highest points or at least not the lowest you knock on the table, before you take your turn (you can not draw a card if you are knocking) each player gets one more time around. If you knocked and are the lowest point value, you lose 2 quarters, otherwise the lowest in points puts one quarter in the middle. At anytime during play that you get a total point value of 31 you lay your cards down and every player except you has to put a quarter in. You get to lose your three quarters and one round called a floater round once you lose the floater round your out of the game. The person that has money remaining or is still floating, wins the Pot. Its fun and a fast pased game, we have played with dollars too, but gets expensive since we may play 5 or 6 games a night. ANyone thats interested or have any questions just ask... lol wasn't aiming to explain the whole game, but oh well.
I love Rook also.
