2 weeks post op and the scale isn't moving!
I am sooo soooo frustrated. I am 2 weeks post-op tomorrow and the first week I lost 14 lbs. Since the first week the scale has not moved. This past week it has just stayed where it has been since 1 week post op. I am hoping that the scale will start moving again. How could this be possible anyway? There has been a major calorie reduction since surgery obviously and I am not losing. Why? I know people talk about plateaus all the time but already? Am I doing something wrong or does anyone have any suggestions?

I am totally with you. I lost 25 pounds between the week long pre op and the first week and half post opp. I haven't lost a single pound since last Friday (actually, I have gained back one, but I am not really admitting it). I knew about stalls also, but this is crazy. I am beginning to think that they really didn't do the surgery to me and it is just a crazy mind game (someone else said that in a different thread and I thought they were funny - now I understand).
I was eating carbs - like refried beans - they were on my approved food list. I have cut those out since yesterday and hoping to see stuff move. I know I am getting my protein and my water in. I have upped my walking to 45 minutes a day. I dont think at 2 1/2 weeks I can begin weights yet.
I too am sooooooooo frustrated. Maybe the veterans can give us both some words of wisdom.

You are less than 1 month out and you have cut out carbs????
Sweetheart - the only thing you need to do is cut out the scales.
Think about it - 18g of carbs in 1/2 cup refried beans with 6g of protein and zero fat. What else are you going to replace it with?
You're probably not even eating enough to sustain a cat - this isn't the time to be worring about a few carbs in some ff refried beans!

Amy - you're doing nothing wrong. Just about everyone goes through that in the early stages post-op.
Follow the programme and it'll work for you. Ditch the scales and start measuring yourself.

Thank you! I needed to hear that. I was thinking I was being bad because the refried beans taste so good. I was thinking sf jello was going to be my replacement. I am glad to hear that it isn't me.

The posts linked below are posts tagged with 'stall' in them.. they show how common it is to stall at the 2-3 week post-op. Its all NORMAL- so don't sweat it, not at all!
Listen to Corrine.. she really knows what she's talking about!

most of the stalls early out are attributed to your change in diet. You lose more on liquids, then you shock your system when you move to purees, and so on. So it takes a while for your body to keep up with you. I experienced the same thing too, but unfortunately i couldnt tolerate alot of foods 4 days into purees so i have continued to lose weight. So, once i start on full foods, i am sure that stall will happen again, no biggie they will happen!

I stalled at 2 weeks too. It lasted about a week and a half. I started losing again and I'm losing about 3-4 lbs a week now. You can try to exercise (walk) your way out of a stall. Give it time, you'll start losing again.

Beans are an excellent source of protein, they are high in fiber, are low in fat, and loaded with complex carbohydrates and have many essential micronutrients.
Once you start eating a reasonable amount and can handle a variety of foods, you'll need to put a little thought into balancing your diet. But now isn't the time to do it. And for what it's worth - I still eat beans - every single day.

Relax!
Your body is going through a lot right now! It's natural, and everyone will go through this! The body is trying to hold on to as much nutrients as it can - it clearly knows it's not getting the food it used to, and is in "survival mode."
Your weight loss will start again once your body adjusts. Just be patient, and keep doing what your doing, and following your doctors guidance. Trust me, it will start again, and you'll be well on your way.
I know it's hard, we all want to drop the weight as fast as we can, but everyone's body is different, and will react in ways we may not expect.
Enjoy the ride - it's the greatest!
