After searching EVERYWHERE I have finally found a bariatric gastric bypass support group in north Austin, TX...The Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander area...

It meets at Cedar Park Regional Hospital the 2cd Wednesday each month in classroom 4. You do not have to be a patient to attend and the meetings are free...They also have free seminars for anyone interested in having the procedure done. Their phone number is (512) 260-3444.

They have support for anyone who has already had the surgery and for anyone considering the surgery....

Come out and support each other...

I am so happy I finally found a SUPPORT GROUP!! I would like to find some new "loser" friends I can hang out with (maybe do some recipe swaps, scrapbooking, shopping or whatever)...

I have not had the surgery yet but I am scheduled for January 20th...YipPpEEeE!

what times are these meetings? I come to Austin for business and stay in Cedar Park -- I would love to attend one next month (Jan) when i come to Austin.

The meetings are 6 to 7pm...I have not been to one yet...January will be my first...I am just so happy to have found a support group!!

The funny thing is that the doctor who does the bypass surgeries for this hospital is the same doctor who removed my gallbladder....He was the best doctor I have ever been to...he actually cared about me as a person! I wish he could do my bypass but my insurance is making me travel 3 hours to Houston for it so I chose the next best thing...Dr. Davis...

aww crap -- i was hoping to attend one this week coming up -- I will be in austin for business staying in Cedar Park again. Oh well, maybe next time...

i havent been to any. Back when i was early post op, my husband was working nights and i didnt have anyone to take care of the kids. Now, I am working at night so now i dont have any time to go unless im out of town. My drs office has support meetings several times a week but they are up near Reliant and I am in Alvin - its hard to get there some evenings

That's how I am. I'm in Kingwood and my doctor's office is in the Medical Center area. I'd have to stay downtown after work to go and my DH would have to get the kids...too much headache.

Well...I completely enjoyed my first support meeting....Everyone was so friendly and I learned alot...

They are going to have people come in, speak to us, and bring us samples (like from health food stores, etc)....we are doing before and after photos...

It is really great to meet people who are going thru the same thing....One woman had the surgery 24 years ago! Another had it last month...a few like me were pre-op....So it was great to hear everyone's stories....
