Had my staples out today - that was a relief although I'm more than a little tender at the moment. But that'll go in a day or so.
Anyway - the final diagnosis on the omental mass they found when I had emergency surgery last week was that it comprised "fibroadipose tissue with fat necrosis, chronic inflammation, vascular congestion and focal hemosiderin laden macrophages". But the important part - "No malignancy identified". Basically the omental fat had formed into a solid, tennis ball sized clump just below my breast bone.
The appendix was fine but the gallbladder was full of sludge and was the report stated "chronic cholecystitis" which is consistent with inflamation that has lasted a period of time. There were no stones in the gallbladder although it was full of "granular black sludge-like material".
The message here is that if you're having pain, don't let them brush you off. My gallbladder type pain had been going on since May of this year. I was having attacks every 4-6 weeks.
I had an ultrasound that failed to showed gallstones and my liver enzymes were never elevated. You don't have to have stones for there to be a problem.
I shall sleep soundly tonight and dream of toasting my wrinkled butt on the TT cruise in just 1 month.

Hugs to all.
