Julie-PRACTICAL help with Paypal??
Friends of Julie, I'd like to put an idea out here and see if it's the right thing to do.
I'm not on the boards very often but just finished reading about Julie's hellish health trials. It was mentioned on an early post in the thread that there MUST BE SOME SORT OF WAY TO HELP. Speaking from my experience of living on the edge with disabilities and scratching out a living while unable to work (as have others here), it strikes me STRONGLY me that surely there is someone here that is trustworthy and in touch with Julie and able to handle something PRACTICAL to help her.
Face it, she won't be able to work for awhile. I don't know what her financial status is, family help, loans, savings, debt, etc. BUT I DO KNOW THIS: If every person who posted on that long thread had sent just $20, or even $5 to Julie in a Paypal account, then it would be a blessing.
I do not live near Julie nor do I know her personally, otherwise I would try to set this up. So I'm posting this suggestion and in my gut I think it's the loving and right thing to do for a fellow human. A Random Act Of Kindness is never a mistake right?
So can SOMEONE set up a Paypal account, manage it and get the money to Julie? So we can all know it's in the right hands and that we won't be making a mistake in giving the gift of hope and PRACTICAL help to Julie.
I know that if I were in her shoes, with the practical realities of life, that a gift like I'm suggesting would mean more to me than posts on a board (not to diminish those at all!).
Does anyone feel they are right for this, will someone step up and start this and let us know so we can help Julie in this very practical way?
I hope so...Because when I wrote of my need on these boards (for protein powder after I lost my job) that there were kind souls who helped me. Their help meant so much to me and the love I felt was so tangible that maybe it's why I'm thinking this is something worth doing.
What say you? I'm scratching out a living as a single mom and getting disability (again-damnit) BUT I WILL CONTRIBUTE THE FIRST $20 TO JULIE. Just tell me where and when it's there and my money is where my mouth is. Besides, I can't spend it on a $20 pizza right?
P.S. JULIE: Should you find reading this to cause you any negative feelings then I HUGELY APOLOGIZE. I believe I know enough about you that you will read this thread and react to it based on the positive posts and NOT the negative posts. Peace and healing to you and much love. Phoenix...(can't wait to chat when you're feeling frisky again).

Myself and another oldie that is no longer around did this same thing once for a beloved member of the board (Dale) and were flamed by multiple people. I wish you all the luck.... maybe people are different these days, but the economy wasn't like this a couple of years ago when we tried to help.

But on here a lot of us know each other on a personal level - especially here in So Cal. I have numerous paypal accounts - a couple that I no longer use - because I had an online store in the past - I would be willing to use the account for something like this. Julie and I have met in person - and there are plenty of others here on the boards that I think could vouch for me too.

I have a paypal account, and I also will be personally seeing Julie a lot in person. I have a debit card for my paypal acount so I can withdraw the cash and give it to her. I would definately be willing to use the account for Julie, and I also will not only be putting in $20 for her, but I am also going to be refilling her phone account with more minutes. I don't mind if I get flamed because this is for a good cause, and I know she will need help!
Let me know if I will be the one to do this if Karen doesn't do it.
My paypal is ready, and it's empty so I will know everything will go to her.

Hopefully Laura will be able to do this?
Wow flames? Never would have guessed that from making a "helping" suggestion...but I'll take your word for it
Scams, of course that would be mentioned, which is why I was super duper crystal clear about how it may be handled. Gosh, I actually thought it was a GOOD idea...ah, well, the economy sucks, yup.
The suggestion is something that's a little meatier than a quick internet post.
Thanks for the advice on a card with a few bucks. This was something I thought, after spending all night reading that whole thread, that would really EXCITE people.
I hope it does and that these three responses aren't the sum of it.
Offstringgirl, hopefully you'll see this and perhaps be the person that we could trust because I know laura isn't a scammer and I know Julie isn't a scammer.
Look forward to hearing from you Laura.

I would like to hear from Karen first. She said she'd do it before I said it, so I don't want to take her out of her place. I will do it if she lets me know that it is okay. I am ready when she is. I will start a new thread with my paypal info when I am given the okay.

Welll....
I am in. I'd donate. If she was so eager to get back to her Starbucks job, that makes me think she could use some financial help...No judgment, and if she doesn't need it, by all means I would think she could tell us or one of her confidantes.
Anyway, my suggestion is the person who will take the lead could send a PM with the info to those who want to contribute.
I don't know why the flaming - as long as we aren't getting hustled, and if we are, let the local law enforcement deal with it. It could even be a federal crime. But I seriously doubt that is the case here.
Anyway....keep us posted.

No prob...
Not my call Laura, so of course whoever is able to do this, and is close to Julie geographically, and Julie trusts, etc.....whomever that may be, please do post the information so we can start helping Julie. The ache of not working this last month has to be starting to be felt. I KNOW how that goes
