Default Who had H Pylori?

Hi,

I tested positive for H Pylori. I am at the end of my 10 day course of antibiotics/Nexium. I am very nervous that I will still test positive for the bacterial infection. Did anyone have this happen to them after retesting?

I tested positive. Took my 10 day antibiotics. Went back to be retested and my family doctor said you dont re test. I thought he was nutz so I call my surgeons office and they told me the same thing. You will have it but it has been treated.???????

Question H-Pylori

I was tested and found to have it.. took all my meds and gave a stool sample (TMI) and tested positive again. just went off my meds after 2 weeks and will be retested again in a month.
My dr will not do the surgery if you have it because there will be no way if you have a RNY to see in the stomach. only your pouch.
I work for a gastroenterologist and he is taking good care of me.
if i test positive again i don't know where we go from there (IV antibotics ?)
take care

No from what I Here they check through blood as well. I presented my doc with that option and he said the poop platter was the most accurate way to test for it. Check my thread here in the preop section ,there is like 5 pages on it.

According to my dr you can test through blood but it will come up positive if you have had H-Pylori. the stool test is a better test.
Believe me i did not want to do the stool test and went straight to him about it, his nurse is a b***h and i hate to deal w/her even though we work in the same office. Check with a GI doctor they know alot more then some PCPs do about H-Pylori
