Life's a changin'
My son is ok in texas, 8 days and finally got to his destination. He is going to work removing debris from Ike.
I bought a pair of levi's size 10 yesterday, they look good!
Ive worked up to 30 mins on eliptical, I also do stomach crunches, wall ups (wall version push ups) leg lifts and working out my arms with some light weights. I have to push myself some days, Ive been working out about 5 days a week now.
Here is the big one...Ive really been at a cross roads and Im thinking of quiting my job to go to beauty school. I was able to get enough loans and financial aide to do it, but its scary. Im already 36, but Ive always waned to do this. People think Im crazy though because I make good money at my job, have excellent benefits, etc. But I feel traped by all that. The other thing Is Im about 40 hours from getting my BA, but although it sounds crazy to stop going to school and enroll in beauty school, Its just not realistic for me to think I can be a good or descent mom, work full-time, and have time for school. I just cant juggle it. My plan is to work p/t and Ill go to school 3 days a week. It will take me a year. Then I will work as a hairdresser and finish my BA. Im scared, Ive been the bread winner for so long until my husband took over that role. I just don't want to make the wrong choices, but feel like I have to pounce, now or never!

Hey there cutie,
You can do this. You are strong enough, talented enough, and have enough support behind you you can change the world (hmmmm sounds like the "Daily Affermations" from SNL). I think a new job for the new you is a wonderful idea. Let me know if there is anything I can do. I'll come see you and you can figure out what to do with my hair when it starts falling out.

Seriously I appreciate the feed back. Its hard to walk away from a secure job. Im leading in my performance there but Im so stressed out all the time...UGH! So I think Im going to go for it. Jumping strait into things has worked out for me in the past!
Yeah, maybe I can specialize in post WLS make-overs!

Okay, I'm going to be totally honest here ... but remember, it's not my life Jen, it's YOURS!!!
I try to live my life by one golden rule ... no regrets. And 99% of the time it's applied to how I treat people. I don't want to regret saying something to someone I shouldn't have. Nor do I ever want to wish I said someting, but didn't. Life doesn't always give us a chance to go back and 'fix' things ... so I try my best to be open and honest and caring with everyone, every day.
But I also apply it to major decisions.
What would you regret? Leaving your current job ... or not trying to go for what you really want.
I understand the security aspect of your current job. It can't be easy to bail when you're not exactly sure how things will work out. I also understand what it feels like to look back and wonder "what if..." when it's too late to go back and change things. (one of my personal regrets)
Not everything I've tried has worked out the way I had hoped it would. But I have NEVER regreted TRYING.
If it were me ... I'd do whatever I needed to be happy. If it were me, I'd absolutely go for it. You already know what you want ... you're just looking for a little push. And if I were there, I'd SHOVE YOU!!!
Jen, I have no doubts you could absolutely nail this dream of yours and THRIVE ... girl, you've got that somethin' special ... and you damn well know it!!!

I agree!!!
I totally agree with everyone else!!! Do it girl!!! Make yourself happy!!! Who cares if you don't make as much money or whatever...just as long as when you wake up in the morning and you look forward to going to work...that is how it should be!!!
I lost my job in January and yes I freaked out, but I have been going to college for my AA in Business and possibly Sign Language!!! That is when I also decided for my health I needed to try to lose weight and get this surgery!!! I had been praying for years that I could quit my job...and it happened just not the way I expected it to!!! Now I am happier, healthier, and a lot smarter ...well I 'd like to think so anyway!!! he he he I too was the bread winner for the last 6 years that me and my husband have been together...I loved my job but HATED my boss and most of the people I worked with!!!
The only thing I can say is try it...if you like it then you found what you should be doing in life!!! I'm 35 and still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up!!!
