Default OT: Sort of Powerlifting Meet

Hi Gals and Guys,

I thought I would throw this out there to those of you that are here in Southern California. On Saturday July 2nd, I'll be competing in a powerlifting meet to be held in Fullerton California. It will actually be held at our gym here in Fullerton, I'm actually helping to organize it. The cool thing is that as far as I know, I'm the only female (I haven't heard of any males either) powerlifter who competes who has had the gastric bypass surgery.

I only started weight lifting about a year ago, I used to be someone who only did the cardio, the idea that I could compete has truly kept me motivated to stay in the gym, it motivates me to stay in my weight class, and to focus on getting stronger instead of obsessing about the amount of weight I am or am not losing.

It's nothing like bodybuilding, just strength and technique.

There will be lots of other people competing as well as some other activities with entertainment and catering. There is no cost to come out and watch.

I will be a family friendly event and the more the merrier.

If anyone is interested let me know, I'd be happy to give you more details.

Kristen

I powerlift whenever I have to dump the trash into the big bin

That's pretty darn cool way to keep motivated.

It is a great way to keep me motivated, at least I focus on getting stronger rather than that awful 5 pounds that swings to the right and left of the scale so often.

My goal ultimately is to lift double my weight. 20lbs and I am there!
