Unhappy Toony's Crazy Life

Hi All! I can't keep up here these days - So HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Happy Surgiversary, Happy Onederland, Welcome to the Loser's Bench... sorry to hear about your (fill-in-the-blank)... and missing the word games!!!

We are MOVING!

We got the keys to our new home on Friday - it's been packing and hauling craziness around here since then. Sleepless nights thinking of details... worrying, etc. You know how it goes!

Today I had a crew of EIGHT friends here helping me pack and move stuff to the new house... I was just getting ready to order lunch for all when one said, "Your husband needs you." He hadn't been feeling well for several days === and was beyond pain today. He was going to drive himself to urgent care... !!! I told him to call the doctor on call and went to make other arrangements for the crew's lunch and the rest of their "shift."

He was having problems urinating... and felt like he was going to explode. The doctor on call said, "Just keep drinking water, you'll pee eventually." He had tears in his eyes as he told me that. He had those famous "jerks" of his, unable to hold on to anything.

I helped him throw some stuff in a bag and we skipped Urgent Care and went directly to the Emergency Room. He has a lot of medical issues, but is not one to complain or want to see a doctor unless NECESSARY. I knew he was in bad shape when he agreed to the ER.

So - off we went, leaving both houses in the hands of 8 dear friends... Labs and xrays were all pretty good --- they put in a catheter and took out a LITER of urine... he's home with the dreaded cath... with instructions to see his PCP and an Urologist in the next couple of days... and the ER Doc started him on FLOMAX... the thought is he has an enlarged prostate, causing the blockage. (The ER doc did NOT check his prostate--so it's an educated guess!)

He's home, sleeping and miserable with the catheter... My guess he'll show up at the opening of his PCP's office on Tuesday morning asking for the blesssed thing to be removed!

Pooooor guy!

Poooor old house === poooor new house! No one is getting my full attention! (Poor kitty Gracie too!)

Katie!
Congratulations that you actually have the keys in your hands - for real!
And damn good and right that your friends should pitch up! It says a lot about you when 8 actually turn up to work!
Thankfully too that they were there when the REAL CRISIS was calling! How wonderful that you were able to look after your DH - poor chap, he MUST have been suffering. May all go as well as possible forward. I really feel for him, having a major flare up in the middle of a major move! He must be feeling really miserable all round and very grateful to have you too!
I hope your friends stick around as much as possible over the next few weeks!
You'll be missed around here but at least we know you'll be cyber away for a good cause though no doubt very much tuned in in spirit with us here.

So, here is to best wishes, warm hugs, loads of energy, patience, memory, practicalities and sanity!
Cheers,
Vim

Tooney, I love how you just drop everything to tend to hubby. As we get older, we really need to take care of each other. It's great to grow old with someone, huh? My husband and I have been married for 43 years - and I worry about him a lot - He has had 2 heart attacks, one on the OR table while they were putting in a stent. They had pushed the debris into his heart when they were reeming out his arteries.

But, what an adventure. Moving to a new house. It is brand-new, or just new to you? You must have wonderful friends. We had help from friends when we moved up here to Minnesota from Omaha. I don't know how we would have done it without them. Moving companies are just too expensive. They wanted $15,000!!!!!! So, let's hear it for good friends!!!! Yay! Yippee!

Love you,

Grandma Rose

I hope he feels better soon! He can borrow one of my healthy dogs to keep him company if he wants.

AGH!

My sympathies to your husband, Toony. I'm crossing my legs and wincing thinking of what he went through in the E.R. and now with the catheter, too.

They had to do an 'in and out' catheterization on me in the hospital after my weight loss surgery and it was NOT fun! It was one of the most painful things I've ever gone through... even more dreadful than the actual weight loss surgery. I'm very much empathizing with your hubby.

That was the most brilliant start to a post I have ever read. Loved it!

So sorry to hear about Dick's troubles. Poor guy just can't catch a break! It sure is great that you had those great friends to help move you, even when you had to go to the emergency room. It's not surprising though... we reap what we sew and you have definitely sewn a lot of love.

Best wishes to both you and Dick!!

Toony,

So sorry to hear hubby isn't/wasn't feeling well. If it's not one thing, it's another! Oh dear he has been through alot lately. Hope he gets to feeling better soon.

Congratulations on your new home! It is great that you have such wonderful friends to help you out. I agree with Squishy, "you reap what you sow". And I can feel that you have alot of love from every where.

Take care of yourself Katie!

Katie, I just wanted to send some love and good thoughts your way (and Dick's!) as you go through this move and deal with this dreadful latest development with Dick's health. I'm so sorry! I'm just glad your friends were able to keep everything moving (literally) while you and Dick were at the hospital. Blessings to you both, as well as your friends!

Thanks all... Just makes the move more dramatic, huh? Memorable?

It is a brand new home... still a few (a lot) of finishing touches to happen - hopefully Tuesday. The moving van comes on Wed... I think we (well, my friends) did most of the work already! LOL! I should have tracked the number of hours or counted the boxes...

We don't have to be out of this house until the 19th... so we'll have time to spit-polish and bid her farewell... Lots has happened to us under this roof! We were 25 yrs old, no kids with a big future ahead of us... 32 years later --- we open a new chapter and the new place will make life so much easier for my DH... and the grandkids will love the great park a block away!

Isn't it amazing how much JUNK one accumulates over time! I hope to weed things out better when I put them away than I did when packing...

Off to bed. It's been tough sleeping the past several weeks! Thanks for all the great compliments... I am a lucky woman - with great friends in real life, and here on TT! I have a special hubby... a brand spanking new house and an old one full of wonderful memories!

I'll be popping on here as I can over the next several days... know that I'm thinking of you all and looking forward to typing to you from our new home!

katie
