Unhappy Terrible news about my dog...what to do?

Got a call from the vet. Princess is not okay. She's not just dehydrated. She has a bad disk in her back that is putting a lot of pressure on her spine. It is an important disk that has important nerves on it. She's on sterroids and pain meds. We have two options...keep her on the sterroids and see if it heals before she is fully paralyzed, or get her major back surgery that will cost thousands and thousands of dollars. We would like to go the surgery route so that she will be okay, but my family can not afford it. We don't know what to do or where to go. We are a one income family, and live paycheck to paycheck. Plus we still have stacks of bills to pay from my surgery and my hospital stays. My family is just kind of at a loss. We don't know which way we're going yet because we don't want her to die, but we can't afford surgery. Her right back leg is not responding at all. We don't want it to spread through the rest of her body. Please, please pray for my little puppy!

I don't know about payments yet. We haven't figured out what to do. We're waiting for my mom to call us...she's at work an hour away from home! I know we can't do trade. This is huge surgery. The nearest doctor that does it is over an hour away and it's a neuroligical pet surgeon or something. I'm just scared to death. Been shaking.

I know the vet here is real good about working out payment arrangements. I am in there all the time with wounded cats. Not sure if that is an option but always doesn't hurt to ask. Honestly if it were me, I would have to do everything in my power to get that surgery for my dear animal. They are like my babies. Good luck and Laura I will pray everything works out for Princess.

Default When it rains, it pours!!!

I think all of this from this past 2 months just must be my midlife crisis. Or it's my mom's midlife crisis and she dragged me into it.

I am sorry to hear about your dog having a medical problem. Can you ask for donations? Maybe the local newspaper can do a story about the situation. There are a lot of animal lovers out there. Get the word out that your pet needs help.

Yeah, your family has been through a lot lately and that is why I think that getting your story out might help.

I will pony up the first $100 for the Princess surgery fund. You might look into opening up a paypal account that those who are willing and able can donate directly to.
