I was not given a goal weight either. I kinda set my own. I don't know if I will make it there but my goal is 175 I think I can live with that but my dream would be 150. I don't know if I will ever make that one but it's out there for me to try to. So I guess when I see the doctor in October at my 6mo. visit I will ask him what he thinks.

I set my own too. 135lbs is the highest weight I "should" be for my height. I figured that was a good starting point!

My surgeon said his surgery would offer approximately a 30% weight loss in the first 3 months. The rate of loss thereafter varies with age, mental attitude and exercise. At one year out, 75% of loss would be a realistic achievement and at 18 months out comfortable zone will likely be reached. Comfortable zone is according to a mix of statistics/tables of height vs weight male/female and age related, as well as bone structure (small, medium, large frame), lifestyle and a balance of what is healthy and feels good.
For my age, therefore, and having once been "comfortable" at 120-125 aged 25, realistically my aim, aged 51 is 135-145, so I set myself the goal of 140.
Dr Dillemans "operates" slightly differently than in the US - we are given mushy foods whilst still in hospital! Liquids are only for the first 48 hours of meals. Europe celebrates mealtimes differently from the US and he has taken that into account in his surgery.
I am happy at 183, having been in this region for the last 6 weeks. My next bracket will be aiming for 175. I am 8 1/2 months out.
Cheers,
Vim

Hej Karen!
Much of my information is based on conversations, general research (a hobby of mine!) and cross-referencing websites.
I use this site for my BMI measurements (have even got a shortcut on my toolbar!) and refer to the relevant tables to keep me on my toes!
It seems that the table varies in cut-off reference to levels of obesity: Super morbid I, II and III, Morbid I, II and III, Overweight I, II and III. I am approaching overweight III - just another 4 pounds!
One of the factors is where in the scale of menopause you are at: I've been there, done that, which implies that my body "compacts" more naturally now, hence a slightly higher weight bracket than when I was 25.
Hope this link helps!

I have never, ever been thin. After speaking with my surgeon, he set a goal of anything under 200 and I told him that I want a bigger goal than that..So I have a goal of 150 and he told me that anything under 200 would all be up to me. So I've aimed big and I'm looking forward to my journey starting!
cheers'

No goal weight either
I set my own based upon a time when I felt my best and added a few pounds - thinking it not possible to ever lose that much weight. My goal is to escape getting diabetes, but it sure feels good to be able to start to shop in the regular size clothes. There are so many more choices of things to wear.
Take care! Be Healthier!

Well he gave me a goal of like 150 .. but I doubt I would weigh that much .. I just want a BMI under 25 and I am good.. I am at 29.4 right now... so I am well on my way.. at 184 my BMI will be 25
