Okay...now I feel like crap! Just came from the grocery store with all my foods in those nasty plastic bags...

Definitely makes you think...

Wow! I usually ask for paper, but now I will be sure to always ask for paper bags. Paper is okay, right?

Wow, i guess I will be investing in some of the cloth reusable bags at Wal*Mart. I saw them last night when we bought candy for the movie. They are only $1 each. I will definitely have to buy some this week when I shop.

I have some, but usually forget to take them into the store with me... Gotta retrain myself!

Yes, paper bags are better than plastic!

Thumbs up Spanx!

Thank you Tooney for posting that! It really made me think twice about using the plastic bags. Here in Germany, you can get fined if you don't recycle. That was one of my WHOA moments when I first came here...well that and the fact the people take their dogs EVERYWHERE! (i.e., the mall, restaurants, etc.)
On the economy (off post) you either bring your own bag or you walk out of the store carrying all of your items in your hands. I've been collecting bags to take with us shopping. I've been doing pretty good but sometimes I forget and this post has made me really burn it into my brain that I need to be using them more often.

Geof & I have been using our own bags for a long time now.. I've bought pretty totes from various stores, as I don't really like most of the ones they offer for sale at the local stores.. though whole foods has some cute enough ones for .99 cents.

I always get complements on my bags, and they hold a ton of stuff!

I'm like you, I don't like those plain green bags they sell at the store. I find all kinds of cool bags at the thrift store. Something you would normally use for toting crud here and there...yanno what I mean.

I'm a big fan of Chico Bags - ChicoBag.com - Curb your consumption - they are sturdy, reasonably attractive, washable, reusable nylon bags that stuff into a little attached mini-bag with a drawsting and small clip that you can put in your pocket or purse or attach to a belt loop. I have given them as gifts and keep one hanging from a knob on my dashboard and one in my little satchel that I usually carry. You can get them online, but I buy them at a store here in town (my church's shop also has them, as part of its "green" efforts).

I've gotten a few raised eyebrows when I whip one out at Dillard's, but it's a good opportunity for me to educate the clerks on why I try to minimize my use of plastic bags...

I also have several of the reusable Trader Joe's bags that I use regularly (they have a great selection that they update frequently), plus a pair of big cool totes that I got at Costco - Trader Joe's (at least the ones in Tucson) gives everybody who reuses a bag a raffle ticket good for a weekly drawing for a $20.00 gift card, so there's even a chance at a reward for being green...
