The real Divorce
Ok so back in Feb i posted that my husband moved out and that we werent together anymore. Well since then he kept "trying" to work it out with me and stuff, so last week i was letting him move back in. WELL.... on monday he said he knows its not going to work between us now or ever, so we both agreed to start with divorce stuff.
I've been thru this before last time i used some 200$ service to do all the paper work for me and because i didnt know where that man was we had to do the "publication" thing but with my current husband we both agree and we're both ready to just get it over with.
That being said could you all tell me (those who had amicable divorces) what was the EASIEST and FASTEST way to do this. The only thing we have is kids together. Nothing else is in question. We've already split stuff and neither one is arguing for anything. Thanks for your help

I don't know how AZ works, but in CA my finace filed his paperwork, and she had so many days to answer once that was done they went to a settlement hearing. They also had nothing to argue about but the kids. So they had to go to mediation, if they both didn't want full custoday they could have been done in settlement. Neither had a lawyer etc. The divorce was final 6 months after she turned in her answer to his org pett. The judge assigned child support neither asked for spousal support, and that was that. Pretty easy for the state of Ca. OH BTW we have 80% custody!

First off, I want to tell you that you are one heck of a lady to have stayed in the marriage for as long as you have. I do not mean this in a bad way. I know from personal experience that you will heal and grow through the process of divorce and from here on out.
My divorce from my children's father was amicable. He got an attorney and we sat down and divided up items and debts. The only thing that I regret is not being informed of what my child support should have been and accepting what I thought was fair. I only learned that I was being "shorted" after a yr and a half. To make a long story short, check into what is fair. You can find that out thru your Department of Health and Human Services. I think you can even calculate your child support on the internet.
I wish for a speedy divorce and you can move past this!
Much Love To You!

Divorce yourself
My current husband did his divorce himself with the support of a legal aide. It cost about $300.00 (8 years ago) and he had to do all of the leg work (all the copies, documents, filing). But if he can do it, anyone can.
For my divorce, we had one lawyer - mine. We split the $1,000.00 fee. The lawyer did everything I asked - I just wanted done with it. (He wasn't and still isn't a nice person). We had kids and a house. That was about 9 years ago now.
Good luck with your process.

AZ procedure
There is a "self-help center" down at Maricopa County Superior court. If you go the the self-service help center there, you can get all the packets to do your own divorce. The explanations are comprehensive and all the forms are attached in each packet. They aren't that expensive.
I did my own, using the self-service center, and I don't think my years with a legal background would have been necessary to do it. But it didn't hurt I guess.
They make it simple. You just have to pay the filing fee. $286 I think. And for the forms.
Make sure you get the packets for divorce with kids. They are different than the ones without.

Just be sure that he will help the kids after high school if they go to college. Most men do not want that in decree. Tx its straight out 20% per child and I did see were now some ladies are getting spousal support. I'm sure they leave the men some money LOL. I would also do visitations the every other weekend, one month in summer, holidays, etc things to think about. Talk about health insurance for the kids as well. Just take care of your self and think about everything that can happen cause trust me it could happen so be prepared for future.

Hmmm. In our decree my ex is liable for half of the medical bills. He doesn't carry them on his insurance. We have been divorced for over 9 yrs now..and I have a heck of a time getting him to pay his share of bills..can't do much unless I take him back to court. Sucks. I have 100% custody and they are on my Tricare.

WEIRD so hopefully Monday i'll print it out and then do i just go down to the court and file it? is it that easy? it even figured the child support stuff and put it into a nice worksheet for the judge so that will be "heard" as well
