I finally get up the nerve ask my new doc after my old pcp told me no way do it yourself,so i went on a 6 month hell diet that I fallowed to a "T" and lost nothing(along with excersise)! Vent away!! The approval process can be long an grueling. I hated every step of it, it was torture. Just do your best to stay patient and don't give up hope! If you are told no once, try try again.

Hang in there!!

Hang in there. The time will go by so fast. I not sure why you have to wait until Oct for a seminar. The Drs in my area have them all the time.

Hi Nikki, I see you're from Upstate NY--me too. Just wondering if you're from the Rochester area. If so, I thought I'd chime in here. I started thinking about doing this in February. I couldn't get into a seminar until April. I'm getting close now. I have my last nutritionist's meeting on 7/22, and the nutritionist will either clear me or not for surgery. She told me last month that it'll probably be at least 2 months from then before I'll have my surgery. I'm thinking it'll be late September or early October. The time has flown by. If you're with this group, expect the entire process to take around 6 months, perhaps longer depending on your insurance. Also if you have the lap band, they insist you be on a 6 month diet prior to that surgery. Seeing the surgeon is the last step before the surgery.

Don't let the timeframe discourage you. It's only for your own good and it gives you time to think and really learn about this entire process and how it's going to change your life.

I would call them back and ask if you can be put on a waiting list, and if anything comes up sooner you can go in. Good luck in your journey. It's a long hard process but worth it!

I had to wait two months for my seminar. I am with Kaiser Permanente and the seminars were booked until then. There were so many people that wanted surgery. I agree you should call and let them know that if something sooner opens up that you are interested. At any rate, October may seem far away, everything will when you are waiting for the surgery. After surgery and the first couple of months it flies by and this will just be a blip on the radar of life. HUGS!
