Bruising
I just fell outside and within literally 30 seconds of getting up, both my legs are showing bruising & swelling already. I have never bruised this fast. My shoulder that I hit too when i fell isnt hurting yet but I am sure that in the morning its going to be bad.
I am taking all my vitamins and supplements (29mg iron a day plus what is in my multi (taken at separate times of the day). Is it normal to bruise this fast?
I caught my shoe on a piece of centipede grass and fell onto a empty plastic flower pot, the side of our speed boat and the edge of a piece of cattle panel. I have two very very nasty lacerations on my left leg (from the edge of the cattle panel) but they arent deep enough to warrant a hospital visit (my tetanus is up to date). The inside of my right leg is what bruised so fast, I am not sure what it hit but its swollen and purple spotted already.
I have ice on both legs right now. Is this sufficient?

I am sorry to read about your fall Amity. I hope that the pain stops and tomorrow it will just be healing.
I have experienced this bruising and also skin breaking easily since having the surgeries. I am not sure what causes this type of body reaction, but anything I seem to rub slightly I bleed and a small bump on something can easily leave a bruise.

I've noticed that I bruise pretty easily as well, but on the flip side, the bruises seem to heal pretty fast. At least you know what caused yours...I'm always finding bruises and scrapes and don't remember what I did to cause them!
You and I are probably related somewhere down the line...we both have that "graceful" gene!
Good luck--hope the healing is speedy!

I bruise easily now too
Like others, I bruise very easily postop. Not sure why, but I figured it was because I don't as much fat layer between my skin and bone?
I don't know that it's a vitamin deficiency or the reason above, or some other reason I'm unaware of.
You're not alone. My bruises heal just fine though.

Thanks guys for the reassurances! DH was worried sick that something was really wrong when the bruises started appearing so fast.
I hope they go away fast like yours Fisher -- We play golf on Sundays and I dont want ugly legs! LOL

I haven't had surgery yet, but if you look at me cross-eyed I bruise. I am anemic and I take iron pills everyday for years now but I still bruise easily.
I'm glad that you are ok though.
