Unhappy No RNY for me till Nov/Dec

I am so bummed out. I thought I would be having it done in July and now I have to wait till Nov or Dec. My surgeon is pregnant and has stopped doing surgeries until after the baby arrives. She is due the end of August and was going to finish out July but does'nt feel well enough to do so. I can understand that, but in four or five months I could have been down at least 50lbs. I do not want to go into the holidays as big as I am now, but it is like a catch 22. I can diet on my own (only to regain it, of course) or I can wait till I can have the surgery. If I manage to lose weight I won't weigh enough to have the surgery which I believe is the only way I could keep it off. Sorry for being to whiney, but I have been working on this for over a year now and it seem like I am no closer. Deb

Default I feel ya

I have been where you are.I finally got approved after a year of waiting. The best advice I have for you is get into the lifestyle now.You dont have the tool for portion control, but you can get out of the habit of eating carbs and sugar and start to exersize. You will be healthier for your surgery and it will be less of a shock to your system.

Good Luck

Kelly

If having surgery sooner is that important to you, I'd start checking out some other surgeons. Good luck!

Red face

kellyMASS, Good advice, I stopped eating sweets two weeks ago, but do allow dessert on Sunday. The second day without sweets I had a dull headache which I kept for 2 days. I told my daughter I must need to eat them because of the headache, she said it was because my body was so used to so much of it that I'm having withdrawal. She was right the headache went away the fourth day. I am a sweet acholic. So now I have to work on the breads and pasta. It looks like you are doing great. What itype of surgery are you having? Thanks for the advice. Deb

BabyNichole, I would love to be able to do that. But I am having it done thru the military so I have no other options, not unless I want to pay for it. And of course I can't afford that. Deb

Oh darn! I guess what you can too is try your very hardest not to gain any more weight. I'm not saying go on WW, but cut down your portions a bit, don't eat too much crap, and exercise. Try to lose down to a BMI where you'd still be eligible for your surgery, then you won't feel as bad and as if you've lost time if you go into surgery lighter than you are now.

How tall are you by the way?

BabyNichole, That is my plan for the next few months. Since I started this process over a year ago I have managed to keep my weight around 258 so that is a start. I just need to get over the disappointment of the call. When I saw who it was I thought I was getting my date for this month. What a let down. Oh well, onward I go. Deb
