Default the cold feet....

is it normal.... to feel scared one minute.... then super excited and can't wait till the day for surgery has arrived. I'm still in the diet process and haven't even been given a final approval from insurance but I'm already getting super nervous and excited at the same time! ahhh is that normal? did a lot of you get "cold feet" when you knew it was almost time? or am I just a big ol' worry wart!?

I think that's what I'm doing... the "what if's"
but all in all, I am really excited. Everyone seems to have such a different outlook on life. I keep a happy attitude now (even with the lil health probs I have now) I can only imagine how much happier I will be when most of them will be eliminated after yaay!

Your experience is one that many feel, and I did, too, to a degree. For me it was a little different -- at my age I wanted to have far more quality of life than I had, so i really wasn't frightened - I just wanted to live without excruciating pain.

It is all a journey, not a destination. I am on that journey, and my life has totally changed because of it.

I wish you well, "fellow" Texan!

I'm not even as far along as you in the process and go through similar thoughts and feelings. I went through the entire WLS approval process in 2004 only to find out my employer has an exclusion written into their policy. It was very disappointing, especially when I and my surgeon's office coordinator missed it up front and it caught us off guard after a couple of months of going through hoops to get approved.

My wife started a new job this spring and the surgery is covered in her plan so in June I decided to give it another try. I'm a little gun shy now and will not beleive it until we get the letter of approval but I feel it will be worth the effort.
