LOL, sorry, I was just going off of what I was told at the restaurant. Guess I'll have to go in and watch them make them instead of going through the drive through.

Iced Coffee
I bought it once and had half then gave ther rest to my DD. I ordered a small and they gave me what appeared to be the medium size. It was hot and I needed the caffeine boost. I liked it and it was very refreshing on a hot day but I couldn't get to sleep that night until about 2:00 AM. So next time I will make sure it is earlier in the day and thankfully McDonald's is about 60 miles away so I won't have access to it like most.

The McD's iced coffees are made with some kind of half & half, whether it's the real stuff or some kind of 'creamer' manufactured in a lab, I don't know. But I do know that the large has 11 grams of FAT and only 2 grams of protein (which is why I question if it's made with real half & half). I first posted this in the 'nutrition' section because I was surprised by what I found on the McD's website (they have nutritional info for just about everything on the menu). I was angry when I learned of the high fat content ... I was sabatoging my own weightloss efforts without even realizing it (thank you very much Ronald McDumbass). Personally, if I'm gonna suck down 11 grams of fat, I better REALLY enjoy it ... like Ben & Jerry's or Lay's potato chips (licking my lips).
Since then I've gone back to my personal fav ... Starbucks. I order a small iced coffee, then pour it into a large cup and add lots of fat free milk. I get my yummy cold treat PLUS calcium and a good dose of protein. If you like the sweet stuff, they have 4 different sugar free syrups you can choose from.
I'm not trying to tell anyone what to drink ... I just think it's important to make informed decisions ... that's all.

Julie.. I just heard on the radio that Starbucks has decided to make their coffee stronger, due to customer demand.
Can that be true? That stuff is like battery acid, to me.. I can't *imagine* it being any stronger..
I'll stick to homemade iced coffee, thanks!
(sorry, Renee....I didn't mean to hijack your thread.. and I'm glad you can get a small that you like.. )

I have been in distress lately over coffee! Call out the army! I have been getting nauseated everytime I try to drink it now. What is really weird is when I couldn't eat solid food the first year and a half out, I lived on coffee made with milk and lots of added powered milk. This was truly what I lived on. I have been tolerating some solid foods better now and I don't have to substitute with so many protein drinks. Alot of things still hurt or feel stuck, but I do get alot more in now, or either I have just learned "what" I can tolerate. I think that is more what is happening because I tend to eat the same thing all the time. There is no variety, but nonetheless.......I am VERY upset that I get so nauseated everytime I drink a cup of coffee now with milk and add powdered milk for extra protein like I always did. Has anyone else every experienced this? I just hope I start tolerating it again soon. I miss it! My lil pouch hurts so bad it almost doubles me over sometimes. If this has happened to anyone else, please let me know. I would like to know if it gets better. I stress everytime I drink a Starbucks now, which is only once every two weeks when I go to pick up my daughter, but I hurt after I drink it all the way home on over an hour drive and feel like I could just throw up on demand. Hmmmmmmmmm........
Signed,
Stressed Out Coffee Addict

Trina,
Is it decaf or reg. coffee? My pouch aches like mad if I have caffeine, so I have to stick to decaf.
Last time I attempted a <battery acid> Iced coffee from Starbuck's, I knew in a matter of a few sips that the guy goofed and made it with reg. coffee..
I went back to the counter and insisted that he remake the drink for me.. he seemed to act like I was crazy to think that I could tell the difference so easily and so quickly but I knew without a doubt as Miss Pissy Pouch let me know!
There is something with the caffeine that causes it to just *hurt*.

Kinda funny that we're having this discussion and then I get the following in my daily email today from hungry-girl.com.
Jack in the Box:
Regular (avg. all varieties) = 96 calories & 1.7g fat (POINTS® value 2*)
Large (avg. all varieties) = 150 calories & 3g fat (POINTS® value 3*)
McDonald's:
Small sugar-free vanilla = 60 calories & 5g fat (POINTS® value 2*)
Large sugar-free vanilla = 120 calories & 11g fat (POINTS® value 3*)
Small (all other varieties, including regular vanilla) = 130 - 140 calories & 5g fat (POINTS® value 3*)
Large (all other varieties, including regular vanilla) = 270 - 280 calories & 11g fat (POINTS® value 6 - 7*)
Burger King:
Mocha BK Joe Iced Coffee = 380 calories and 10g fat (POINTS® value 8*)
Those JITB iced coffees are NOT BAD considering they aren't even marketed as light! (They're made with 2% milk.) But watch out for that crazy Burger King one -- it's actually made with vanilla shake mix and chocolate shake syrup! There are a few key ways to know what you're getting into when it comes to iced coffee at fast food joints (or anywhere, for that matter). 1. You can (and definitely SHOULD!) check the websites for the scoop on the nutritionals and ingredients -- a quick search showed me all that info above. 2. Always ask for fat-free milk (if given the choice), request sugar-free syrup (if available), ask to sweeten it yourself (with no-calorie sweetener, if possible), and go without whipped cream. 3. If the beverage is premixed and/or can't be altered, ask what's in it. If it's flavored, is the syrup full of sugar? If it's creamy, is it made with full-fat milk or cream? Don't be shy!

Don't get me all excited Kel!! That would be AWESOME if they made it stronger ... I'm an absolute Coffee-Whore! When I say I order their iced coffee ... what I actually order is an iced double hammerhead. So if they kick it up a notch, it would be a little easier on my wallet!
I'm gonna ask them when I go tomorrow ... I'll let you know!

I do LOVE Starbucks! It is putting a dent in my wallet though. lol The funny thing is I never even liked coffee before I had my surgery. It was around Christmas (3mo out) when I started craving it! It was bad. I think it was more that I needed caffeine. Nonetheless, I call it liquid crack because I was addicted. Starbucks did piss me off for a second. They discontinued SF Mocha. Luckily I had bought a bottle of it before they discontinued it. I use it when I make my protein coffee drinks. Choc. Unjury, SF vanilla cap mix, and a few pumps of SF mocha, hot water. Whip it up in the bullet and I have a yummy drink! I guess I like the one from McDonald's because it is a little easier on my wallet. I have honestly only had it a few times. I tend to be careful about getting those drinks because like we are finding out, we just don't know what the stuff is made with. The McDonald's one does taste "creamier" so I am sure it is made with "real milk". lol
OMG as for Starbucks coffee getting stronger! Oh my... Like I said... Liquid crack! We have Sheetz here and they make coffee drinks. I was looking at the nutritional values online... Well, the hot latte is better than the iced latte. Doesn't make sense to me, but I guess I will have to stick to hot!
I have enjoyed reading this post... Its interesting to see what people research about coffee drinks! lol
