New Job Offer.........what Do I Do?
Okay, I have a job offer that is a $7.00 raise for me PLUS they pay my health insurance for me and my dependants PLUS it is only 2 miles from my house PLUS 3 weeks vacation PLUS they are closed with pay for a week at xmas.
So here's my question, if i leave the job that i'm at now, what are the chances that the new insurance will pay for plastics? Should I not accept the job in hopes that my current insurance would pay for the plastics since they paid for the RNY? I'm so confused.....would I be dumb to just let that job slip away? Any personal advice would be GREAT!!!!!

Is there anyway that you can find out for certain if your current insurance will pay for plastics?
The new job sounds like a great opportunity.

The new job honestly sounds too good to pass up. Even if they don't pay for your plastics completely. I'm betting that between you, your sergeon, and your PCP you can come up with some reasons to get PART of the plastics paid for and then just piggyback the rest on top of it. It won't cover all the costs but it'll cover some and thats the big thing.
Most insurance doesn't pay for plastics unless there is an actual medical need with medical paperwork to back it up. Like horrible rashes under the belly skin etc.

I'm just speculating here but I would think that the new insurance would still pay if you are able to show medical need. I mean the problem of the extra skin is there because of WEIGHT LOSS not really because of surgery. One is secondary to the other but not directly connected. You could have lost the weight medically or surgically. Either way you still would have the issue of extra skin. I would think the insurance company would look at the medical need only.
What you will want to do though is make sure that the new insurance company historically has been known to cover plastic surgery post wls. From my understanding the majority will if you fall under their criteria but I suspect there may be a few who flatly refuse to cover it, just like those who have an exclusion clause in regards to weight loss surgery.

assuming you know the name of your new insurance company, I'd START with your doc's office and ask if they have experience with that ins co paying for PS.
Next I'd call the ins co, explain your employer (leave out the word "new") is going to be offering their plan to you and you want to know about coverage...
so much else about the new job sounds worth it...
good luck!

Is that $7.00 more an hour??
Not to be mean or anything, but shouldn't you take the better job because you will be helping your family? To stay at a lower paying job with less vacation time and they don't pay your health insurance all for the possibility that insurance might pay for plastics sounds pretty selfish. In my opinion I would do what would help my family in the long run, not what would help what I was going to look like in a bathing suit.

ummm.............yes it's $7 per hour more but it's about the same of a move....i'm financially stable now, my insurance is good its cigna, i'm vested with the company and i get lots of overtime..............the company with the offer is more money but not so much overtime which i assume why they are offering more money..........the insurance i just found out is called Greatwest, i've never heard of that so, i'll have to do some research.....i'm not being selfish just trying to decide whether i want to make a career move.....biggest factor is with gas nearing $4/gallon, it's only 2 miles from my house..
however, i have been at the same company for 10yrs so i'm not big on new jobs...it's scary

Cindy always tells it like it is
I agree, though, that this job sounds amazing. Congratulations!!! As someone who is currently job searching, I'd be so happy to have a great offer right now that I'd snap it up. I'm jealous of you! I also am no insurance expert, but I've never heard of one allowing free plastics just because you had them pay for your WLS. Good luck in making your decision.

okay i wasn't saying "free plastics"...i was saying that since they paid for my surgery, that maybe a factor when it comes time for plastics.....i'm a newbie just like everyone else and learning as i go.
Now the insurance compay is called Great-West. I just did a google search and to my shock, it's now a part of Cigna <<<<<<<<< that's who I have now!!!!!!!!!!
OKAY I'M DEFINITELY ACCEPTING THE JOB OFFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I had Cigna (in CA) & yes they paid for my WLS but no way in hell would they pay for my body lift. Even with rashes etc. I know what it's like to be with a company for a long time it's hard to leave. I was offered a new job with a new company for $4 more an hour, but I didn't take it. I'm glad I didn't because I got promotion and a raise in April. I make more money and work less.
Good luck with whatever you do end up doing.
