What the hell does it mean when a guy says "I think of you like a sister"

I swear I felt like I was in some 80's teenage movie! Is there any going back after that? Maybe someday he'll come around??? WTF? Ugh! Finally meet a great guy and open up to him and BAM "I think of you like a sister" Code for I love having you around but we are never hooking up.

Took the wind out of my sails!

He probably means the friendship is so good, and is probably scared to have it jeopardize by taking it to the next level.

Its one of those classic situtions... We are friends, good friends. I tell him everything and he tells me everything. Going on almost 2 years. I think he knows that I've always had a crush on him... Oh well... I'm lucky to have him in my life period. He's just soooo perfect!! But the grass is always greener!

AND! Can I just go on being friends with him? When will my feelings get in the way? This stuff was so much easier in high school!

Mike...Its not just about "hump day" if you catch my drift. Its more... Which is weird for me! I've never actually met a guy I can stand for long periods of time!!!

I totally know what you mean! I have had that happen to me before! Holy crap it sucks! Trust me you need to move on and focus on yourself right now and go out and meet new people and catch a little distance between you two. After awhile you will slowly start to get over him. I noticed that the more I hung around my best friend who I had this HUGE crush on the harder it was. He and I are still friends but not to the extent we were and I feel so much better, my heart doesnt ache as much and I dont feel like crap when those feelings arent reciprocated. Dont worry girl you are adorable and the right guy is out there for yoU!

hell i've been in love with my 2 best friends since before puberty

Never got in the way of our friendships, and they both knew and just played it off. One (which now lives in texas) keeps making lil innuendos about my weight loss.. be interesting in the future if i make my way down there

My first true love was my best friend for about 2 years.I slowly fell SO in love with him.He had a girlfriend the whole time and when they FINALLY broke up I told him how I felt and he said he didnt want to ruin our friendship(whatever).Well after about another year he started getting jealous when other guys started to notice me.REALLY jealous.We finally hooked up but he never really officially called me his girlfriend.It was a real mind F###.We stayed together for about 3 years he finally called me his gf.I took his virginity and he went off to Japan for school.When he was gone I met my current DH and cheated on him...I still regret that.The only time I have ever cheated.Anyways the point is even though he did eventually decide that he wanted to be with me I dont think that he ever really loved me the way I loved him.I think this guy is doing the right thing by not leading you on.I know it hurts and he sucks ass but what can you do.Wait until you start getting attention he will come wait in line for his chance and the choice will be yours.You are worth too much to settle for someone who dosent really have the same feelings you do.

thanks ladies. All good points. I think I'll just lay low for awhile. But for now I will still secertly hope he'll come around and realize we are perfect for eachother!!
