7 months out..some thoughts, a wow
1. A WOW moment. Went to my youngest son's ballgame last night. Saw quite a few overweight people there. And for some reason, although I'm still obese, I didn't feel a part of them. I am in such a comfortable place in my mind. I am comfortable in who I am and how I look, I can move easily and freely and in as as good of shape as a 47 year old man should be, and probably one even younger. It feels strange, I don't even see myself as fat. It's like I had the surgery, I know that soon I will be at my goal weight, and that nothing in between matters to me now. Thanks to a certain wise TT'er who helped me realize that confidence is a winning hand. Eyes on the prize.
2. A thought. Weight loss has become an afterthought to me. It wasn't like that for the first few months, with struggling to figure this all out. Now I've realized that it was never really about the weight-loss to begin with. The weight was just a physical manifestation of internal issues. A side affect. I didn't just eat too much. I ate as a direct result of my underlying depression, boredom, loneliness, and stress. And this journey is now all about finding out why I felt that way, and making peace with it. For the most part I have, but I'm still a work in progress. Seems plainly obvious, but I got caught up in the excitement of losing all this weight and while I'm happy that I've done well, I knew I was still hiding the truth. Not any more. This is my final journey, and I will not make this one again. I'm leaving any and all baggage behind.
3. A thought. There are some truly wonderful and insightful people here. You know who you are. I appreciate, admire, and respect each of you. It speaks a lot of what you possess inside that you care enough to continue and share your journey with us, that you are smart enough to realize that this journey lasts a lifetime, that you are open and revealing, and acknowledge that even long-termers need support. You've had a profound affect on me.

David, thank you for this fantastic post! I'm glad you're in a good place on your journey and look forward to more "wow" moments from you as you approach goal. I'm also looking forward to meeting you and the lovely Mrs. Rappobear on the high seas in December!
