The Time Of My Life By David Cook
FOR COPTERGIRL (I think this is the one you were looking for??) Great song!
Written by: Reggie Hamm
David Cook The Time Of My Life Lyrics
I've been waiting for my dreams
To turn into something
I could believe in
And looking for that
Magic rainbow
On the horizon
I couldn't see it
Until I let go
Gave into love and watched all the bitterness burn
Now I'm coming alive
Body and soul
And feelin' my world start to turn
And I'll taste every moment
And live it out loud
I know this is the time,
This is the time
To be more than a name
Or a face in the crowd
I know this is the time
This is the time of my life
Time of my life
Holding onto things that vanished
Into the air
Left me in pieces
But now I'm rising from the ashes
Finding my wings
And all that I needed
Was there all along
Within my reach
As close as the beat of my heart
So I'll taste every moment
And live it out loud
I know this is the time,
This is the time to be
More than a name
Or a face in the crowd
I know this is the time
This is the time of my life
Time of my life
And I'm out on the edge of forever
Ready to run
I'm keeping my feet on the ground
My arms open wide
My face to the sun
I'll taste every moment
And live it out loud
I know this is the time,
This is the time to be
More than a name
Or a face in the crowd
I know this is the time
This is the time of my life
Time of my life
More than a name
Or a face in the crowd
I know
This is the time
This is the time of my life.
This is the time of my life.

Perhaps this is me being an ol' stick in the mud, but as a parent of a musician, I'd like to just clarify that David Cook did not write this song.. a young man named Reggie Hamm is the songwriter and so I'd just like to see him get some credit as well
'Time' is now for American Idol Songwriter winner - USATODAY.com

Yep David just performed it, but performed it well enough to get my emotional attention and make the song my new personal anthem. Every year Idol holds a contest and the winning song is sung for the finale

I also loved his re-do (or whatever you'd call that) of Dream Big!

And I am very thankful that you found the lyrics for me. I am the type that listens to a song, and if I can't make out what the words are, I make up my own...and they are usually way off base. I listened to the song with the words in front of me, and it really meant a lot. I appreciate the time you took to search for it whether or not is was an "original" - I looked at a couple of sites and couldn't find the words, myself

Oh, no biggie, Vickilyn.. I just wanted Reggie to get his due as well. It's always wonderful when someone's lyrics can speak to us in some fashion.
I remember a few years back going to see singer/songwriter David Francey (award winning Canadian folk singer/songwriter) at live performance for the first time, with my DF, Geof and one song caused me to burst into tears when he sang it!
So, I totally understand.
