Memorial Weekend Surprise!
I got a phone call from my friend in New York on Friday night saying that I needed to call off of work on Sunday...turns out she booked a flight down to surprise me this weekend!! Luckily, my boss was kind enough to let me have Sunday off for the occasion. She and her boyfriend arrived yesterday evening and are leaving tomorrow morning. I am so tickled that of all the things she could have done this weekend, all the ways she could have spent the money she spent, she chose to come and see me. I can't believe how much I missed her! We went out for a drink at a bar called the Daiquiri Deck last night. I say "a" drink loosely because while I had 1 daiquari because I was driving, the two of them were in rare form by the end of the night. This morning we woke up super early to get on the road by 6:30 for a kayaking trip at Weeki Wachee river. We kayaked for about 4 hours (off and on, we stopped to swim for a while in between) and let me say...ow! My arms are feeling the burn! Then we went to Clearwater Beach to have lunch at Frenchy's Rockaway Grill, which is a restaurant on the beach. We decided to hit the beach and swim some more, then we went back to their hotel and swam some more in the hotel pool while watching the sunset on the beach outside the pool gates. We finally ended up relaxing in the hot tub before calling it a day. I am exhausted! They are flying out tomorrow morning, so we are going to meet for breakfast before they leave. Sometimes even when you think you know a person, they can surprise you in the greatest ways!!

I had to look at your avatar just to see where your at. Lucky you to have such a great friend to fly out on a whim, and even better to have such nice weather to enjoy that time. Here in sunny San Diego, well let's just say, it is not so sunny this weekend. It is cold, damp, overcast, windy. Just the kind of weather where I want to stay in bed all day. Guess I can't complain.

I was, and still am, just touched beyond words! The trip couldn't have been cheap, she booked it 1 day in advanced on a holiday weekend, so I am sure it was a pretty penny. She didn't get in until Friday night, and she is leaving this morning, so she really only had 1 day here. I can't believe she went to such lengths to spend some time with me. She is truly an amazing friend!

You know the most awesome part of it all? It was a HEALTHY visit! We were so active almost the whole day! Not only did I get to spend time with my friend, but we worked our butts off and had so much fun! I got a 2 for 1!
