This is a struggle today.

It's 11:00 AM and my FAT brain is having some major issues. I just ate the SF pudding, but my appetite seems to be rockin' hardcore today. WTH? Yesterday was fine, though I knew I was going out to eat so maybe that kept my brain in check.

This liquid part seems harder this time over last time. By the end of the week last time, I was thinking that the liquid part wouldn't be a bad idea to do once or twice a week. I'm SO not thinking that today!

I'm not jumping ship or anything, I'm just complaining.

With the amount of pre-op folks like Sherry7 on their pre-op liquid diets this week...it's helping me keep focus and stay true. If they can do it, so can I!!!!

UGH!

Did I mention that the protein shakes aren't working today either? My nausea threshold is getting closer and closer...

-Mike

Today was NOT good... It is obviously the wrong week for me to be attempting this.

I jumped ship.

Cottage Cheese, and then later a Lean Cuisine. I barely made about 800 calories today though.

I'm not in a happy place at this moment. I'm still going to try to stick to soft protein tomorrow and more protein on Thursday and Friday.

This was definitely more difficult this time than last time.

I was trying to stick it out through the afternoon...but got to where I just didn't think I could drink one more thing.

The great thing about this though is tomorrow. (There's always one when you need it!) I can continue and be happy with my EFFORT, and decide to table ultimate success in favor of lesser, but just as significant successes.

Now, I'm going to bed before I eat something else!!!

My fat brain is apparently talking to your fat brain, Mike. I had an awful day all the way around. I took a sleeping pill last night...I've been having a horrid time with insomnia lately. At 2 A.M., the nursing home where my Mom lives called and said she was having trouble breathing, and that they were sending her to the ER.

Of course, the previously mentioned pill was in full swing by that time, and I could barely even catch what they were telling me. They called back a half hour later to say Mom was refusing to go, so I had to invoke my health care proxy powers to over-ride her refusal...(can't you just see me in tights and a cape as..Da Da Da DAAAAA...Health Care Proxy Woman, here to save her mother!)

OK, so back to dead sleep again. (Yeah, I know I'm an awful daughter for not dragging myself outta bed, but...so be it.) The hospital called at 5 and again at 6...to ask me questions while I was in a drug induced stupor. Suffice it to say I had a horrible night's sleep. And I'm here to tell you that interrupted sleep on meds is worse than not sleeping at all.

Anyhow..I tried to 5dpt it....but it didn't work. I ate everything in my path today that wasn't nailed down. If you live in a 50 mile radius of me, you might wanna check your fridge, pantry, and for that matter, tool shed....just to make sure I haven't eaten you out of house and home also. I suck...

Anyhow...tomorrow is another day. Imma watch an episode of Lost and then sleep...I hope. No pill tonight, but i think last night's might still be good...

Oh, my Mom is in the CCU with another round of congestive heart failure and exacerbation of her COPD. She's confused and goofy. Found out today that she's been having Chinese food delivered to her room in the nursing home. It just makes me so god damn sad...food is worse than heroin in her case. She's dug her grave with a knife and fork. And in my grief...what do I do? I eat....................Bah. I repeat...I suck.

Default I'm with ya

So far, I've been good. Had no problems days 1, 2, 3, and now 4 except today (day 4) I had a caesar salad with my chicken... actually, it's not pure soft protein but I think it's okay. I am now on some stronger painkillers and I tell ya, I'm flying a bit so... who knows. I think the salad was okay though but I couldn't control the dressing - it came from the hospital cafeteria and there were extremely limited options... but I'm doing what I can.

Kind of looking forward to when I can stand on the scale again with both feet, so I can actually know how all of this is affecting me :-)!

I've been drinking the protein vials (42g) each day, low fat milk, lots of sugar free iced tea and decaf hot tea, then soft protein the rest of the day - half a cheese omelette for breaky, chicken in the salad for lunch and salmon tonight with a few veggies.

Hugs,
Kimberly

Not a good 5DPT week.

I was off and on all week long. Yesterday was the worst...I had popcorn and part of a Lean Cuisine. (The popcorn was a necessary function of going to see Indiana Jones--or at least that's what I keep telling myself. Also, it was 94% FF microwave popcorn--I took my own!)

The problem isn't really the food I ate. It's about what was eating me. (I know it's a cliche...sorry) Between the lack of commitment and the guilty feelings--I wonder what I'm doing to myself.

I lost one pound. Not too bad, but it's not really a pound I deserved.

Emotionally, this week has been all over the place. My moods are swinging like chimps in a jungle. Happy one second, furious the next, with in between times either mellow or moody. I haven't looked outside--but I'm certain we're at or near or full moon. (Insert wolf howl here.)

I've set some new mini-goals though that I really want to try and accomplish:

220 by the end of July
under 200 by the end of September

That's 45 pounds in the next 4 months, and would put me at or near my goal in a year. That's about 2.5/3 pounds a week. I'm not sure at this moment that it's entirely possible--I'm not losing as fast anymore, but I'm throwin' 'em out there anyway, if for nothing else than I can come back and look at them and see what I was telling myself.

I'll wait a couple of weeks and try this again. Maybe a modified version? I can definitely do the liquids during the day, it's the afternoon and night that gets me into trouble.

-Mike
