Question I need advice!!

Well I am new to the forum idea and I need advice from you all. I am attending a 6th month class to be approved to have my surgery covered by insurance. Well I am on my 5th month and I am scared. I have heard so many mixed emotions about this surgery and I need some feedback. I saw a girl on a forum say she would never do it again. Because of that negativity I have been questioning it. I am 31 years old, 267 pounds (down from 282 when class started) and no co-morbidities. I am a very happy go lucky person and until last night was so ready to do this. Please be so honest with me and those of you 3 or 4 years in please give me some info. You guys are so great and I am thankful that you re all here!!

I am not quite 3 years out - will be in the beginning of July, however. This surgery has been a blessing to me. I am happier and healthier than I have been in a long time. My outsides now match my insides. I haven't struggled with any health issues because of the surgery. I had very low energy levels for about 6 months post op and lost a lot of hair (which has now grown back) but both of those are common with the surgery.
My only suggestion to you is to research, research, research and know what you are getting into before you make the decision. By the way, I had misgivings before I did it, also, but am so thankful that I did.

Well, I am only 2 years 2 months out from surgery and it was the best decision of my life. A LOT of people feel this way as I am sure they will post and let you know... that being said, it is a VERY personal decision and none of us can tell you it is the right thing to do. There are DEFINITELY chances of complications, but for me I was going to die an early death without it and jumped in with both fat feet (329 lbs.).

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

This is just a tool.......how you use it, when you use it, it's all up to YOU to make it work. Only you can decide if this tool will fit you....and, you also don't know until you try it....unfortunately, you can't test drive this tool. It's all or none....if you're in, then go all the way in.....can't just test the waters. If you're not 100% sure this is for you, then don't do it. This will be one of the most difficult, crazy, and can be the most fulfilling part of your life.

And, without it, your life will continue the way it is, just as crazy, rewarding, and fulfilling, the most difficult journey of your life....

So, chose.

No doesn't necessarily mean forever....after the final no is the yes.....

I know exactly how you feel. I did the same thing the closer I got to the surgery. It wasn't that I wasn't 100% sure but it's just that I am cautious when it comes to big life changing decisions like this. This is major surgery and drastically changes your stomach forever. You are ok. You have probably gone through much soul searching to get this far if you are like I was. I just had to keep reminding me why I was doing it and realize that those reasons were still there and still valid. I did it and am SOOOOOOOO glad I did. Remind yourself of your reasons and if they are still valid, then hang in there and go for it!!
