Old Timers post WLS only!
I made a chat room for all of us who know better, to vent to each other and get advice from peeps that are real and know that the F*@k they are talking about. Its password protected, so email me if you want a piece of the action. Its new, I would like it to GROW!
All my EWast County Support Group peeps need to get a password, as well as you old school peeps and chick a dees! TTFN!

This is a bad idea
I really don't feel that's necessary due to the fact that we all are starting out the same way and do go throught pretty much the same things. Just because you are further out doesn't mean you should feel the need to be in a different category. I respect the fact that you have succeeded but I'm sure you have slipped up maybe you didn't post it for everyone to judge you but some do. That's why this is a forum it's not a popularity contest. Long term and short term we all need support again I must repeat support. Lisa

I can't say that I like the idea of this!
Your wording implies that you're looking for some sort of an elite group and that only a select few would be eligible to join.
I'm not quite 8 months out so I hardly constitute an "old timer". But looking at the other side of it - I'm only a few pounds away from my surgeons goal. Would that qualify me?
Or would I have to hang around with all those who don't know better? All those who don't know what the F*@k they are talking about until you determined I had made the grade and that I could be one of your gang!
Maybe what would be a better alternative - and one which wouldn't offend people is that there be a "Grads" forum. For people something like 12 months out or more.

OH boy Bridge....the us vs them flame again
It's not elitist.....theres a few ways we would like to express ourselves but can't in a public forum...though even with a password protected area....you can get a few people who may abuse it.......
There is a lot of SH** that is going on that has nothing to do with hair loss, food restrictions (I don't care what any doctor says....I WILL eat that CHOCOLATE CAKE with ICE CREAM if I CHOOSE to, and pour some Kahlua on top while you're at it), how many pounds to goal (already there and maintained for years) a safer place to get the down deep, dirty, and VERY ugly side of all of this.....that you don't want blasted all over the place for your employer to see, your family to know, your future lover.....when people Google for you....your posts from here show up. PM isn't really effective for group verbalization.
For the hardcore issues, it takes a tough skin....I can see where a safe place to REALLY get it out (enter at your own risk and get ready to FEEL offended) and know that whatever advice YOU are asking for is done from love and a different perspective. Tough love, if you must compare. If you leave mad...then we are getting something out in the open. When you come back in spite of the anger and perceived hurt, then we can really start to work things out.
The physical symptoms were a walk in the park; the near death experiences from complications a piece of cake; the what the ***cking A** do I do with XYZ??????!!!!!!!??? that takes a bit more unveiling and pulling back the layers. It takes removing the old scars and pulling off the scabs to get to what's festering underneath. It hurts like you're being prodded with hot pokers, and when you come out on the other side....guess what, you may have to do it all over again.
Some of us who have been around 3 or more years, and very active in all of this need a little more kick in the butt than a few nice words of encouragement. As humans, when anything happens to us, we feel like OMG, it's so overwhelming and we want to vent it out...and it seems so bad....and we get all piss and moaning about how terrible our lives are....it takes a courageous person to tell it to you straight, IT can be worse, so get off of it and find out what is good in your life NOW, and move on...then the next day, get another reminder about it.

John is trying out a new "Accountability" section...though, that may still be too public for what I think you're getting at.

Wouldn't the long term post-op forum work for that purpose? As a newbie (and someone who doesn't know much of anything yet), I probably wouldn't even go there.

Its not about excluding anyone. Honestly there are times that I need to talk, cant pick up the phone and rely on a core group of people that I have known on a personal IRL level for several years.
Its not that I dont want to talk to you Lisa, I just feel that there are some issues that I have on a personal level that I feel comfortable discussing with say, Marie, bridget, Duckie, Whit, Rain, Lynda etc. that I with all due respect dont feel comfortable talking to newer members about.
Maybe once I get to know you better that will all change.
Im not talking about, OMG I ate 10 ritz crackers and 5 peanut m n m threads I am talking about personal issues like marriage, finance issues, and postpartum issues that I don't want to put out there for everyone yet I do need sound advice at times.
Please don't take this personally, though I suspect several of you do and will. It simply is about people that have developed an IRL bond and though we may now be scattered across the country still need to chat on a more intimate level.
Heck, I went to school with Bridget kindergarten thru high school. There are probly things I could tell her and that she knows about me that I couldnt share with anyone else.
Nothing personal.
