Yes, there are indeed issues we would like to discuss, without fear of anything coming back to bite us in the arse. I know I talked about an issue of mine, was uncomfortable with it, deleted it, then posted as "someone else". This was then thrown back in my face. Personally, I would love a chat area like this.

Default Really Struggling

Hello old bypass buddy friends,
I am 6 yrs., 4 months post-op and REALLY struggling with old eating habits, mostly sweets and constant snacking. I've been researching revision surgery, yet haven't really found much appropriate for me.
I had an endoscopy last week that showed that my pouch and stoma have enlarged a lot over the years. Oh, I wish that I could have my "newbie" little pouch back again. Eating healthy was so much easier then. I am really frustrated by my 40+ lb. weight gain and lack of determination to do what I need to do to "Get Back on Track". I feel so apathetic and also embarrassed by my weight gain.
I rarely check in on to the thinnertimes web site and was shocked by its growth. What happened to our small town website forum where everyone had surgery by Dr. Callery in San Diego-Poway? Now it seems so big. I don't feel so safe with this big of an audience to disclose personal details of my struggles for all of the internet to see. I, too, am interested in connecting with long term postops > 3yrs. out. Does anyone go to a support group in the San Diego area that is geared to long term postops? Thanks, Suzanne

This "private chat room" suggestion rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't post initially because the next post was "oh nevermind"

It DOES feel exclusive and DOES feel like a clique of friends.

Afterall,
there is a PM feature you can use.

I am talking about personal issues like marriage, finance issues, and postpartum issues that I don't want to put out there for everyone yet I do need sound advice at times.
sorry thats a load of you know what! I am still considered a "newbie" however have posted over 1600 posts and responded to several personal issues both in public here and in private! I have come to adore several of the older timers here and value their advice and look forward to seeing thier posts on whats going on in there lives too as well as my own personal life. If you and Bridget have known eachother forever why come on here why cant you pick up the phone and call your old friend? I've made great friends here and have no intention of ever excluding other people just because you may not like ones opinion.
Awww your saying its not "excluding " people ARE YOU KIDDING why even post this topic why not send PM's to all the "older timers" NO you wanted to let it be known that you want to have some "exclusive club" where you all can do whatever and let it be known to us newbies that we dont have one!

CALL IT LIKE IT IS! A spade is a spade no matter how you look at it, now i can honestly say that is childish and yes lets grow up!

PM, email or start your own Yahoo group. Two other boards that I'm were splinters of larger boards. It's worked well for the past few years.

I don't have everyone's PM address....may of the "older" peeps have gone out of touch.....heck, some I still don't know their real names

My stance is I don't want all 6000 people to see all that is going on with me in those darker moments. The world is harsh and you may end up getting fired over a simple post that might have offended someone or because your boss heard that you're going through a difficult time, or draw conclusion that WLS people are all crazy, or whatever.....there are things that happen that I feel more comfortable writing about that is read by others who has been there and then can comment back. Some times the phone is not what you want as an outlet (time difference, God only knows what people are doing at 0200).

What you all have seen me post about, and I can be graphic and frank about the issues.....is not everything that is going on on the next level down. The Groups function is somewhat helpful to collect people of similar interests together, and still not the same as a forum format.

Default Holy crap!

Ok all you newbies with a frigging opinion and crap you nothing about...again... still.

Marie, and I are only 2 of the top 10 that joined this site 4 years ago. We have been here since it started. Suzanne used to be the MODERATOR but you would know that if you did your research. Thats the problem with you newbies, that overwhelms us old timers. You pop off at the mouth and give advice with investigating things. Yes Duckie and Marie and Suzanne, etc are right. When you are 3 years out, the surgery isnt so exciting... that fact that your life is f'd up is scary! The fact that you used to run to food isnt there is scary! the fact that there are so many other unhealth coping mechanisms screaming our names and tempting us on a daily basis, is scary shit! But you WONT know that until it is YOUR time. I do not want rainbow and unicorn feedback about OUR reality when you are not that far out. You will not understand, I dont expect you to understand. When you are 3 years out, and mind tripping on stuff, we will be there for you. As far as having peoples phone numbers and PM's I am looking for multiple advice from serveral different people AT ONE TIME! I Probably have over 100 phone numbers from people here, I dont call much but I have them if I need them. I also use to organize the annual thinner times picnic, i used to host the support group in East county, CA...... dont get it twisted, I am no jack ass, I know what Im talking about and further more I know the needs of people that are far out want, and need emotionally. We are all created equal, but at different points in our journey, things are very different.

Again, newbies I just wanted an area to go to to vent the f'd up mind stuff that accurs when the honeymoon, excitement and maintenance period are upon us.

Dont get your panties in a bunch!!! Why do you have to always think everything is about you? Why cant you be open to thinking outside your perfect, purple circle that maybe we have needs that could be different. We arent running away or turning our backs, we just want a little private time every now and again, is that too much to assk for?

Dont talk to me about catagories and where you suggest I should put things, I helped make the catagories!

Um.....okay.

This board clearly isn't what I thought it would be. I'm not planning to kowtow to the elders and wash their feet while chanting "I'm not worthy!" Just wanted some advice and information. Best of luck to everyone.
