This has just gone on wayyy too long. Everyone over the age of 2 knows what foods are good for us and what foods aren't. It doesn't matter if you're pre- or post-, fat or thin, at goal or just starting, 5 years out or 2 weeks out. We all know, and no one can pretend otherwise. We have a tool that not too many people have, and we can choose to use it or not.
The bad foods will always be bad and it is up to us to decide how to treat our bodies. If my depression has its hairy claws around my neck and the only thing that will help me hang on to this planet is a 1/2 c of ben/jerry's, then it is my decision. I can eat it, and maybe I'll feel fine and less depressed, or maybe I'll dump, or maybe I'll eat it and not dump but still feel depressed, because I just put more crap in my body. Tammy is dead-on-balls-accurate. That's a MP. I don't think anyone should proselytize about our personal choices, as we are all adults. What is not acceptable (among other things) is to do it, talk about it, then get all pouty faced when someone calls you on it. You know. You knew.
The other side is that unless specifically requested, no one should feel the need to police anyone else. If someone wants something 'naughty' in their mouth, they know the consequences. And maybe they've made 'arrangements' for that piece of cake, cookie, whatever, by exercising more, making sure they eat more good stuff and planning for a bit of a treat--MYOB time!!
Another thing for newbies and posties to remember--it's strictly GIGO. There are 3500 calories in a pound. If you want to lose a lb in a week, either eat 500 less calories a day or up the exercising 500 cals a day. It doesn't matter what we eat from a caloric standpoint. Maybe a chicken breast and 6 cookies have the same number of calories--can anyone tell which one is healthier and a more useful choice? Uh huh, thought so.
The main difference between the newbies and the oldies is the newness and sensitivity of our pouches. When we're new, we have to be so careful that we don't do damage to our new little pouches and that the little bit we can put in those tiny spaces has to 'count'. As our pouches heal and stretch, we have a little more wiggle room, and our realm of choices expands. While I wouldn't have thought about putting a FF baked taco chip in my mouth at 2 months out, at 2 1/2 years out if I am having a serious salt/corn jones, I can decide for myself if I want to eat one. My choice, my consequences. As a matter of fact, I remember being maybe a month out and the rest of the crew was hot for Weinerschnitzel. I fantasized about the frosty freez and how cool it would feel going down my throat....one spoonful and I was yakking at the porcelain for an hour. My choice, my consequences. I kind of think this is what Cindy was trying to say. She is comfortable with her choices and doesn't care (or need to care) what others think of her choices. She knows her body the best, and if she is comfortable with cheezits, etc., then who are we to chastise her? She seems to have done pretty well for herself--the woman is as hot as Tucson at noon on the 4th of July!
When I hear of people having Jamba Juice every day (they're a minimum of 600 cals each, folks!) and then they wonder why they have 'plateaued' for 3 months, I know what the issue is. I bet they do, too! And that's their choice. I could get all up in their face and ask them why they are sabotaging their tool, but it's none of my business! I absolutely know when I am engaging in sabotaging behavior, and that is my prerogative.
So let's just all take our eyes and opinions off our neighbors' choices and stop the shaming and finger pointing. If anyone is unsure if a choice is useful or not, dang, at any one time there is a gob, gob-and-a-half of people on this forum just waiting to let you know if you're being stoopid or not.
And that's all I have to say about that. (hear my very best Forrest Gump imitation!
