Did I have a "Nilla Cakester" today? Yep. I had one. Did I enjoy it? yep. Was it good for me? No. I won't be eating them daily. It was a treat. I know i will get on the scale tomorrow after eating healthy the rest of the day and it won't be an issue.
Have I been eating a Nilla cakester with each meal since two months post op? NO!!

This is a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG process. You have to learn the basics. Learn the correct way to use your tool FROM THE FIRST DAY POST OP! If you don't learn it then you are indeed screwed. You will indeed pick up those bad habits you continued, and then some, later on and gain the weight back.
Trust me, if I start gaining weight, I won't be whining, I"LL BE KICKING MY OWN ASS! I will know I am the one that caused it and have no one to blame but me. It will be cuz I stopped using the tool I have been given. I will be thining it's okay to do whatever I want, whenever I want, not in moderation.

Moderation IS the key, but only AFTER you have learned what you need to know.
THANK YOU.... THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT, BUT COULD NOT ELOQUENTLY SAY!

Default To Cindy and Duckie ...

Yes, you have been successful in your weight loss journey. Yes, that is absolutely wonderful. And yes, us Newbies depend on your sound advice.
I'm just shaking my head at how you defend your ability to eat junk food whenever you want ... do you honestly believe you have the 'right' to eat crap just because you've already lost all your excess weight and us Newbies haven't yet? Do you really think that you've 'earned' a Big Mac and a Coke? I just can't understand how you rationalize your behavior, yet comdem others for the same bad behavior.
It's like a Catholic priest telling a pedophile to repent or be damned to hell.
Hypocritical if you ask me.

Yes. Its called moderation.

No. Its not a reward per se but a conscious choice derived from learning to change your habits. 3 years ago I would have eaten 3 1/4 pounders and a 64 ounce coke. Now I might ocassionaly indulge in 1/2 quarter pounder and a small diet coke.

WLS is ultimately about moderation, not deprivation.

If the food choices dont work for you dont eat them. As you get further along though I bet you will change your PoV.

I have NEVER said I was perfect and I have many times confessed my personal struggles with food. BUT... I also NEVER ate crap newly post op...period, end of story.
I did = ( I practically lived on tabasco cheez-its for the first 3 months. Its all I could stomach.

Oh great. Just what I need.
Now I'm gonna have to work on giving up my pretzel habit knowing full well there are Tobasco flavored Cheez-its out there calling my name?! Damn those sound good!
Well, I'm gonna have some pretzels, then get to bed. I've been sitting here for so long in front of the computer arguing, that my eyes might just pop out of my head!
Truce Cindy?

Default Tool Tool Tool

To use the tool correctly is to follow the plan even if you're years out but in reality we all will slip up. Duckie and Cindy you are both wrong. Admit it and get over it. This is rediculous you both cannot believe that you are right because you're hypocrites. It's not ok to eat junk during the honeymoon phase or the I'm at goal phase. At least some people admit to their mistakes. Cindy grow up you are so sarcastic and rude. Lisa

Lisa, thank you for your opinion... everyone has one and has a right to it. I don't think that Duckie and I are wrong and that is MY opinion. When you are at "goal phase" you might just change you point of view.

Good luck.
