For Once California Did Something Right -
The state supreme court reversed the voted-on ban on gay marriage.
The court wrote:
"Our state now recognizes that an individual's capacity to establish a loving and long-term committed relationship with another person and responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual's sexual orientation."
This is so long overdue!

That's awesome. I always wondered why anyone thought they could determine who you marry and who you love.  It's about time they pulled their heads out of their asses!

This is GREAT news for the power of love. As a pastor (and a progressive pastor, yes) I feel only sadness when I think how "Christianity" has been so uncaring for GBLT folk for so long, and I pray this decision will help people express love and fidelity to others, no matter what their sexual preference may be!

It just blows my mind that it's taken this long ... it's wonderful news.
Here in California we've taken great strides, but still have a long long way to go. My sister lives in South Carolina where gay couples can't walk down the sidewalk holding hands without being ridiculed. I just hope society follows the court's example.
