thann,
Everyone has different views and opinions. Some may find this offensive, others may not. I for one, do not. I'm a devout atheist. Do I take offense each time someone "blesses" me or each time I read a bible verse in someone's signature? No. I just ignore it. We are all adults here. If something like this bothers you it would be best to just let it go. I do every time I log onto this forum.

Thanks for responding. I do tend to let things go, but this was very personal to me and my faith, and the faith of more than one billion Catholics worldwide. I couldn't stand by without at least defending my faith -- as a matter of fact that is a tenet of my faith, to defend it. I have to answer to God at the end of all this, and I sure don't want Him taking me to task for at least not saying something.

Thann, I am glad to hear that you have a faith that gives you satisfaction and a good relationship with god. I think it is important that we are free to have these options. Something I can re-assure you of however is being gay is not a choice, I was born this way and it is similar to being overweight, if we dont live the life we should we really aren't living, look at the paths that we have all gone on for the weight we carried that kept us from living.
I hope that with your good soul and spirit you can look at the other side and consider that being gay is a celebration of who someone is.

Get a grip and read a different post, as this one clearly is about acceptance. Obviously you are closed minded and little minded, shame on you.

Paul!
Take it easy dude! Not all religions are perfect, and if we were perfect we wouldn't be here. The world is totally screwed up and you know what - we did it ourselves. People have very strong beliefs and that's fine. I'm Catholic, and even have issues with some of the church dogma, but that doesn't stop me from embracing the faith - you should hear some of the arguments our son and I get into about religion!
Duckie - you may be an athiest, but you are also incredibly spiritual!

Yes Pat you are absolutely right, I was venting as this really grabbed my ass and sent me whirling, sorry. But I have been ridiculed and had prejudices thrown at me for a being overweight and also being gay in my life and to come to a thread that cleary is about the positive side to acceptance and see a post like that of Thann was too much. But Pat you are correct and I am wrong to react so strongly.

No problem my friend! Obese and gay that's as bad a combination as me - obese, and molested (but not from a priest)! Believe me, I've had my buttons pushed on many occasions - even on this forum, so I can relate to how your feeling.
I grew up with my dad a cop and mom as a minister, what a hellish childhood. I couldn't bare telling them of the molestation, I kept it in for years and never did tell my parents.
So, are you going to plan a trip to California and get married, or are you going to live your life in sin - shacking up with your partner!
Please take my joking in the way it's intended - as a friend. I love to push people's buttons when it comes to religion, sex, and pretty much everything. I'm learning not to take things seriously anymore. It's just not worth the effort. It is said "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff", and I'm beginning to realize perhaps everything is small stuff!

Paul, you are my friend, gay or not, and our friendship is alive and well outside of this forum. I join you in your joy about this major step that California has taken.
Our world is not a perfect one, we are not perfect people, but joy is something to embrace, and that's what I am doing now, embracing you, Paul, and all of my dear ones that are affected by this news out of California.
