Default 8 Tools For Maximum Weight Loss

I've been doing a little research and I received this in the mail today from Michigan Weight Loss Specialists. I though it was interesting, so I thought I'd share it.

8 TOOLS FOR MAXIMUM WEIGHT LOSS

1. Eat 3 small meals and 1 high protien snack daily (optional)
Do not eat in-between meals
Don't go more than 4-5 hours between meals
RNY/LB/GB=1200 Calories/> 60 grams Protien/< 30 grams Fat
DS=1500-1800 Calories/>90 grams Protien/50-60 grams Fat
KEEP A FOOD DIARY

2. Eat only good quality (lowfat), solid foods including at least 60 grams of
protien/day
Solid foods will give you a full feeling, where liquids pass through
Limit sweet and high fat foods to 1-2 times per month-includes cakes,
cookies, pies, candy bars, regular cheese, fried foods, hot dogs, fast
foods, potatoe chips, tortilla chips, cheese puffs, salami, sausage, bacon
etc.

3. Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly
20-25 times for each bite
Take at least 20 minutes to eat each meal

4. Do not drink liquids while you eat
Stop drinking 15 minutes before your meals and wait 45 minutes after your
meals before consuming any liquids.

5. Avoid liquid calories
Includes: soups, milk, juice, protien drinks, energy drinks, yogurt smoothies
coffee drinks, milkshakes, frozen/sugar free ice cream, alcohol etc
Liquids with calories WILL slow weight loss and result in weigh gain

6. Drink 64 ounces of non-caloric, caffeine free liquids daily (32 oz from
water)

7. Listen to your body and eat until you're comfortable
Try "fluid loading" if you find yourself hungry between meals
Drink up to 8 ounces of fluids at one time between meals. This should
make you feel full for about 35-40 minutes

8. Exercise EVERY day

IF YOU FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES, WEIGHT GAIN WILL NOT OCCUR!

Things that make you go hummm.....

Default Hmmmm

Well, I eat soup once a day (still kinda stuck in the mushy food stage) AND I'm addicted to pretzels.

Uh oh.

Mine is crackers and cheese when I start feeling a little shakey. It's a quick fix, I buy regular cheese and apparently I shouldn't. Hummm...

In the program that I belong to you can kind of break some of these rules during the first 12 weeks because your pouch is still healing and you're still getting used to it. Liquids and protein shakes are completely acceptable as is having pure protein feeds because in 3 meals you generally can't get in 60 grams of protein.

After 12 weeks you're supposed to go to 3 meals and maybe 1 snack and should be at full liquid etc.

Good list, although taking more than 20 minutes to eat is something I would disagree with!
