I spent most of Mother's Day without my wife. She was visiting one of son's in San Diego, so I surprised her with reservations to an expensive brunch at the Hotel Coronado on Coronado Island. $100 a plate for an amazing buffet and a "few" Champagne Mimosa's. Later on, she came home to me and I made her evening memorable

Some of you ladies are blessedly spoiled, indeed! That's awesome. For the ones that didn't have the best day, I wish I could come give you all hugs.

Well, my "furbabies" didn't give me anything for mother's day except a hairball on the carpet. Aw, they do love me! LOL. For my mom, I drove up to her house to pick her up in my new car (which she loved and gushed over). I brought her a card and gift (my cats chewed on the paper to give it a special touch for their grandmother) which was a pair of citrine stone earrings and a package of toe rings (a sort of tradition my mom and I have is we get pedicures together and wear toe rings afterward). Then I drove us to a Garden Tour being held in a fancy part of town to benefit a local elementary school. 7 gorgeous homes had opened up their gardens and part of their homes for people to tour. It was a ton of fun and we saw some amazing gardens. It was really nice to walk around all morning and afternoon in the sun during a lovely spring day. Then I took her to Tapas for lunch. I think she had a good time

Sorry you had such a crummy day for Mother's day Kim. I can see why you'd be hurt that your DH waited so long to get the card that they were gone That is a huge, huge thing for me.. happens with my birthday a lot (between Christmas & New Years and it gets 'lost' in the shuffle.) Hopefully you'll think of ways he can make it up to you

My Mother's day was just 'okay'... my daughter had given me my MD gift & card last time she was home, as she thought she wouldn't be here yesterday, though she was... she gave me a couple of small gifts which was nice.

We had plans to go get our nails done & my ears re-pierced (since I did them when I was 15 and I didn't do a very good job of it, LOL).. but we couldn't get near the malls.. we decided to just blow it off till a later date.

So I ended up just bringing her back to her dorm.. getting stopped by a police officer for not having an '08 sticker on my plate.. (weird, I have no idea where it went!) He was nice, just told me to get it fixed.

My son called me a few times, but I was always out of the car, so when I finally called him back at 2:45, he says "Hi.. I called you a couple times to say Happy Mothers day but you didn't answer the phone.. now I have to go, because I'll be late for work, so Happy Mothers Day.. bye".. LOL. I told him I loved him and he said he loved me too.

The day before though was just a really fun day with my daughter. I wrote about that in my 'personal story' thread.. rather than repeat it, here's a link, if anyone is interested:
