Default Kristi's Road Trip

Hey everyone!

I'm leaving on a cross country road trip on May 22nd thru June 1st. I'm starting in Oceanside, California and ending in California, Pennsylvanis. These are the cities we plan on stopping in for sure:

New Orleans (out of the way but we want to visit)
Memphis
Lexington

Any suggestions on what to see or do in each of these cities? Do you know any great bars, clubs or resteraunts that we just have to try out? Any cool side trips or suggestions of can't miss sights that might fall along our route? Any suggestions are welcome!

Thanks

Hi, California, PA is only about an hour from where I live. You'll be fairly close to Pittsburgh, so you'll probably want to visit there. Depending on what kind of stuff you like, there's lots of different stuff to do in the 'burgh.

Have fun on your trip.

edit: Are you into architecture? If so, when you are in PA, you are going to be pretty close to one of Frank Lloyd Wrights most famous works, Fallingwater.

I am 2.5 miles from the Orleans line. I can help you out there... When will u be here. I can let you know what's going on... Right now is prime time for many festivals. Jazz Fest was the last 2 weekends and the French Quarter Fest was right before that.

And of course, there's always a party on Bourbon St. 24/7

Hi sweetie!

You are going to have an AWESOME time! I've been to all three locations and they're all great.

When you are in New Orleans, you should visit the Flea Market that's at the end of the French Market. You can get some great bargains and fun stuff. Especially music and drawings by local artists. You'll have to check in advance about the days/times. The jazz festival is supposed to be great, although I missed it during my trip. I did go on a gator tour and that was pretty neat.

When you go to Memphis, stop by the Peabody Hotel to watch the ducks. It's unbelievable! The ducks are treated like royalty and people come from all over to see them come out of the ornate elevator, then walk down the red carpet to get into the pond in the middle of th lavish hotel. You'll have to check in advance about the times.

When I went through Lexington, it was evening time. The city was much more robust than I had imagined and it looked really nice with all the white lights and fountains. We went for a walk and enjoyed the evening and the people - they're really nice.

Enjoy your trip and let us know what you saw when you return!

We know that these locations are not on the straight path but we picked cities we wanted to visit. I think we will take the 10 thru Texas to New Orleans and then shoot up to Memphis and then over.
