sitting on my ass at home on welfare
|
TOTALLY AM OFFENDED BY THAT! i'm sorry i worked for 15 plus years and darn hard work then when i had my baby girl decided that my husband can work while i take care of a disabled child! Ok so my husband left me up and left. I have NO income but am a full time student and you know what NOW I'M ON WELFARE! I rarely am offended by people's comments on hear and let it roll off my back but this one my dear was a complete generalization that all people on welfare are lazy and sit on thier ass all day. I'm a nursing student, a mother of 3 kids, and one of them is medically disabled. Just because one is unhappy with their line of profession does NOT give you the right to state that people on welfare are sitting on their butts collecting! I've paid my share of taxes and such.
and BTW Tonya, i know you were just ranting and venting about what someone else's comment about you but now your generalizing and in your rants have offended me but i still love ya

mine is 39, but still haven't gotten anything. Wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I didn't file my taxes until 4/14/08.

Lol, I didn't go to the accountant until 4-10, and then he had me sign a paper for an extension. So, I don't know what day mine were actually filed. But considering I only got $18.00 back from Uncle Sam, I didn't bother doing e-file this year...so who knows when I'll ever see my stimulus check.

Deborah, I have stayed out of this whole argument about the stimulus checks, but I feel the need to put my 2 cents in here. You, my dear, are NOT lazy, nor are you sitting on your ass while collecting welfare. From the sounds of it, you found yourself in a jam, signed up for assistance, got yourself into a nurses training program, and are trying to better yourself so you can support yourself and your children on your own in the soon to be future. I'm not a politician (thank goodness), but I do believe that is the way the welfare system is SUPPOSED to work. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way much of the time, which is why it gets a bad rap, and people do tend to generalize unfortunately.

No thanks necessary sweetie. As obese (or formerly obese) people, we should all be used to stereotyping, and as such, avoid doing so to other people.

Mine is 25 and I haven't gotten anything either...I'll let you know when it comes. I filed in Febuary though and did direct deposit. I keep checking my bank, but nothing yet.

Deborah, I was over-generalizing and I apologize. You are not lazy nor are you sitting at home on your ass. The people I have a problem with are those who abuse the system and ARE lazy and ARE sitting home on their ass while the rest of us work for a living. You are raising three kids by yourself and going to school full time, you DO work for a living! Probably harder than some of us on here who don't yet have children!
I was complaining about my financial situation, that's all. I'm just financially frustrated right now, but don't get me wrong. I absolutely love what I do! I love my job and wouldn't trade it for the world, unless the world would let me do exactly what I am doing right now but make twice as much money! That or if I could go to school once I finish my bachelor's degree and get my law degree, then I could really help people so much more than I can now as a paralegal!
