EXCUSE THE HELL OUT OF ME FOR WANTING WHAT I WAS PROMISED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you read my original post, I DO pay my taxes. Every year, we owe the IRS money. We have changed our withholdings, we have had additional withheld, and no matter what we do we always owe the greedy mongers more and more money. Every year, we set up a payment plan and every year, we pay it off as promosed. DON'T sit there on your high horse and tell me I don't f*ing pay my bills. I work my a$$ off to pay my bills and no matter how hard I work, they just keep taking more and more from us. My bills get paid, they all get paid. I may not be able to afford to buy groceries but my other damn bills are paid. Maybe not always "on time", but always within the grace period and always paid in full. This is ridiculous! Why do I even bother trying to defend myself? People who have money can't understand what the rest of us go through on a monthly basis just to try to keep up. EVERYTHING that was published about this stupid so-called "stimulus" said that the only way you weren't getting it was if you owed back taxes. I spoke to two different people at the IRS and was told that no, if it was 2007 taxes we owed then it would not be deducted. The only thing that would be deducted were "back" taxes, if we owed taxes prior to 2007. We don't owe anything prior to 2007. WE PAID THEM ALREADY, hence WE PAY OUR TAXES! I'm sorry, you people just totally pissed me off. DON'T tell me I don't pay my taxes! If they were going to keep the stupid non-rebate, why did they mail us the paperwork to set up our payment plan, just like they do every year? Someone explain that one to me! We were skeptical, we originally thought we wouldn't get anything because we owed, but then we got all the paperwork for our yearly payment plan. Plus excuse me for believing what not one, but TWO different people AT THE IRS told me on the phone! I'm so mad right now I could spit nails. You people, on your high horse telling me that I don't pay my taxes. How dare you? What gives you the right to insult me like that? God, I can't even believe this is happening on here!

i didn't really see it as an insult. And i'm with you having to live month to month and sometimes not making it (what am i gonna do without ramen now? lol)

We also owe every year, but its because our withholdings make it more managable to live on our paychecks from month to month with less taken out. We need that extra 60 bucks a check and always manage to work it out in the end somehow when taxes come due.

I had already paid my taxes due for 2007, but I would have understood if they had deducted what i owed from the stimulus check. Would have sucked not having that money to blow on what I needed right now, but it would still be less that i still owe.

Can i ask if you had filed and extension for your payments? That might make a difference if you had a payment plan already worked out for the IRS itself and they hosed ya on the payment

You were the one who said you owed taxes and from your post you implied they were from years back. That being the case would show you were behind on your taxes, therefore not paying them and owing money. That is at least how I read your post. If you meant something different than I didn't see that in the way your typed the post out.

I only posted because from the very beginning of this all you have done is complained about not getting enough free money and blaming the government for you having money problems. Everyone has money problems but it's not just our government. I'm not saying the tax system is fair or that our government is running great right now but they are not the only reason for everyone's problems. Fuel is out of control and therefore everything else is out of control but that's not all controlled by our country and it ticks me off when our government gets blamed for the worlds problems. I also get mad when people who go to school for years to have a high paying salary have to pay much more in taxes because other people choose not to work and have the government support them. That is definitely not the case with you and I would never imply such but that situation impacts the taxes we pay.

I am certainly not well to do by any means. I also live month to month but when the government says they are giving us money back that we won't be taxed for I am happy to get anything and don't make any plans for that money until it is in my account. So many people have counted these chickens before they hatched and then get mad because they didn't get as much as they thought they were going to get and I don't understand that reasoning.

As far as getting paper work and being told different information by people at the IRS, I figure that would pretty much be expected by you. That's pretty much what you get from every big company. That's why you count on nothing until the money is in the bank. That way you don't get all worked up and bitter over the situation.

First of all I wasn't rude to you second get another freaking JOB if you are that broke. Sorry but you have my blood boiling now. We are not by any means rich but I have learned how to live and still have a little left over so that I don't have to live pay check to pay check. I have worked two jobs for several years to make ends meet. Tim has worked two jobs also. We are now at a place where we don't have to do that, but you can bet your ass that I would get another one in a heart beat if I couldn't afford my bills and food. I'm not putting you down in anyway but stop playing victim, and do something about it. My parents just got big time screwed by the IRS not only for this "free" money but with there 08 return. My Mom got on the phone and now it's starting to get fixed. It's going to take a looooooong time but she didn't sit and say poor me the goverment sucks she did something about it. So maybe you should call and ask them WHY they took the money. Nothing can be done if you don't do something about it.

and that right there is why i'm not overly excited about this money. Until i see something i'm not planning on ANYTHING. And BTW i am choosing not to work right now so I can finish up my RN degree and have that high paying salary one day. And yep the goverment and soon to be ex is supporting me but you know what i've worked my butt off for so many years, and now i need help and am taking it all but thank God for the "system" otherwise i couldnt goto school full time.

Jeanie, OMG my parents pay 90,000$ a year in taxes YEP that number is correct 90K its ridiculous! They arent rich either but own stocks and land and stuff so they get screwed. And let me just say my daddy didnt even goto college he worked his way up to where he retired at 52 and had tons of money but unfortunatly when the stock market crashed they lost most of it just thought i'd throw that in there

I hope you know a situation like yours is not at all what I was refering to. I was refering to people like this one guy I know who fakes a back injury and somehow keeps getting his doctor to sign off on it so he doesn't have to work. He can go fishing, working on cars, or even paint all day but his back hurts way to much for him to possibly have a job! Your situation is a great one for goverment help. You are getting temporary help while helping yourself and that is how it should work. Great job on bettering yourself! Don't worry, the goverment will get their money back from you in the form of higher taxes once you start making better money.

Jeanie, I actually wasn't responding to you, I was responding to Dave. I didn't even see your post until I saw what you just said. I took exception with Dave implying that I don't pay my taxes. I DO pay my taxes, paid them every year I've had to pay. I have filed an income tax return every year since I was 15 and got my first job, whether I had to file a return or not. Felt it was my responsibility as a US citizen to do my civic duty. Of course if I owed back taxes i wouldn't expect to get my rebate. I'm not a moron, thank you very much! I didn't expect to be lied to by a phone rep at the IRS. I called back with the badge numbers of both reps that I spoke with that gave me faulty information. I spoke with a supervisor and unfortunately they don't document phone calls. I used to do customer service over the phone and every single solitary call we took was documented to the nth degree. If someone was caught not documenting a phone call, they were fired immediately. If those phone reps gave me incorrect info, I wonder how many other unsuspecting people they gave it to? Believe me, I am not one of those people who expect something for nothing. I have worked hard for what I have, even if it isn't much. I would have preferred to have not known that this stupid rebate was even a possibility, then I wouldn't have thought I might actually be able to get caught up on some bills. DH and I had made a list of what we needed, and in order to do everything we really needed to do we would have had to have gotten three times what we thought we were getting! LOL!

For the record, DH and I both work two jobs. That's why this whole thing is so frustrating to me. I work my ass off and for what? Why bother. DH and I make what should be considered decent money, around here at least it is, yet we just can't get ahead. It's just so frustrating!

Dave not at all thats why i said that Your right the goverment will yet again get their money back from me after i'm a nurse making great $$. I HATE seeing people twist the system to accomadate themselves and not work on bettering themselves in the interim. I hate going to the welfare office every so often its not only embarassing, but i see all kinds of junkies and women with like 8 kids and the looser father sitting right next to them! ok thats a whole different rant

"That's me, David. Everything I read said that they would keep what you owed if you owe back taxes. I took that to mean that if you owed back taxes, like 2006 or before, not the taxes we just filed. I'm getting a tiny little bit, not even enough to do a tiny percentage of what we needed to do with that money. I feel so betrayed, but why should I be surprised? I hate the federal government!"

Tonya, You said in the statement above that you owe the government tax money and you read everywhere that the government would keep your stimulus money if you owe taxes. You state right there that the government told you what it was going to do and it did it. How do you misread that? The government was very direct with its statement, you were the one who misinterpreted what you read. People misinterpret things all the time but I don’t see how you can be so mad at the government for that. If I planned on that money I would be disappointed in one aspect but hey, your taxes are now paid and you don't have to worry about 'em. At least be happy for that!

Default Tonya & Deb

I'm not trying to put anyone down. My Mom works my Dad is on disb & they make next to nothing but because my mom makes a certain amount over she has to claim what little my Dad gets from the state. It sucks! Don't get me wrong they make ends meet my Mom is super saver. Don't know how she does it but she does. Specially cause my Dad is super spender....lol
Tonya I know it's hard to get ahead and just when you do something happens to suck what little you had down. I'm not calling you a moron or lazy please don't think that I am. My post may have come across that way but it's not what I meant. Also I can't believe that the IRS doesn't record their calls. I think thats bull (you know what ).
