Ditto, I'm looking forward to fish and legumes. I grabbed a Vegetarian cookbook from the shelf (World Vegetarian by Madhur Jaffrey) and found tons of inspiration. I can't wait until the farmer's markets begin. I miss my fresh fruits and produce!

Beth...welcome home. Good to hear it all went well...and by that I mean it's fixed! Your a trooper, I have to say that!! I hope I have half your hootspa come June!!
Ya know...Doing this is really making me SEE how much JUNK I am actually eating and not really paying attention to. I know every single thing I am craving and wanting to cram in my maw...and have resisted...minus the fruit, simple mistake that. However, I think Chrysalis has it right. If I didn't enjoy these things, I surely wouldn't drink them. I gagged I don't know how many bottles of Isopure down before they finally made me hurl just thinking about them. Finding something that works, gets the needed protein in, and cuts the sugars, fats and so forth into nil amounts...was a real challenge for me. I was not a CARB freak....nope, I'm a sweet freak. I needed my sweet stuff, and I couldn't find anything that was palitable for me, and healthy. These smoothies are just the thing. I don't want those fudgesicles anymore...I don't need to sample this piece of candy or that cookie. I feel like I have been eating 'ice cream' like stuff all day..for two days. To me....that's a treat. That is the thing I have been looking for. I have been trying to find an alternative to help me combat the sugar monster. The dumping, surgery, whatnot can only get you so far....your mind has to pull you through the rest of the way. And I must be of really weak mind, because this was one demon I couldn't get a grip on. I think I can now. I think I can forgo all those "treats" for this new one....sure it's making me a gas pump...if only I could put it in my Tahoe....but it's a healthier alternative to what I was doing.
I have also learned that I can go 3 hours without chewing on something. For some reason I had myself convinced that I couldn't survive unless I was eating something frequently. What a load of crap! I wasn't ever 'hungry'...just 'needed' to eat a little of this or a little of that. Keeping me from eating a TRUE portion at meal times, making me eat less, which made me hungry an hour later, so I would snack or pick at meals throughout the day. This is what I did before surgery. I grazed all day long....and like Beth pointed out in one of her posts...grazing doesn't seem like eating, so even though you are taking the calories of a 3+ full meals, it feels like you haven't eaten a thing all day.
Why, WHY do I keep jumping back into the same stupid behaviors? I was "cured" I swear I was!!! Now here I am doing the same dumb stuff all over again??
Jeeze...at least I can say that I see it, I own it, and I am fixing it. If I have to put myself through this test every 6 months to keep me on track, then so be it. I am tired of finding excuses for myself...time to just take my smoothie, drink it, and like it.
You'all know I am just ranting to hear myself, right? I just needed to SEE myself say these things to that idiot that runs my brain....You got that right? You didn't think I was poking a finger at anyone other than myself did you? I hope not....This is how I roll.....

You are doing great hon! I am a sweets person too. I have found that I look forward to my smoothies at night now. (I am NOT doing pouch test btw!!) I get that "sweet fix" at the end of the day.
I make mine with:
one yogurt ("Activia" type; walmart's version)
one frozen banana
one-two scoops of protein powder (mixed with enough water to make it liquid, not a whole drink)
Frozen fruit; as much as I want!
I then mix all this in the Magic Bullet. Whatever i don't finish goes in the freezer for a snack the next day. (or later that night if i'm up REALLY LATE!)
I have FINALLY found a sweet treat that is GOOD for me and not full of "crap".
Enjoy your smoothies sweetie.

What the hell?
It just dawned on me that I've watched the Food Network for two days straight, with the exception of Family Guy at 7:30 and a little Dora for the baby.
What am I doing to myself?
Paula Dean, Giada DeLaBoobies, Emeril...get the hell out of my head!

The fast is making me realize the turn I took from preparing the foods I love to things that were easy and relatively quick. I miss the freshness and the savory flavors. Right now I'm craving my French cheeses. A nice brie would be spot on! This experience has made me relish the importance of having great food once more. Reading French Women Don't Get Fat merely drives this home.

Okay Dokey...
I'm ready for tomorrow...got the whole day planned out and I just finished putting all the food together. Amazingly, the amount of food I'm taking with me tomorrow to work looks like what I would eat over the course of three days, not one. I'm a little worried, but here's what's going in me tomorrow:
6 oz. Chicken Salad (Canned chicken, per the websites instructions, an egg, and a small dollop of mayo with a little salt and pepper.)
6 oz. Tuna Salad (Albacore, an egg, a little mayo, salt, pepper)
4 oz. Egg Salad ( 2 eggs, a little mayo, salt, pepper)
4 strips (2 servings) of imitation crab meat
3/4 cup of cottage cheese
Rough total of protein if I eat all of this (which I'm doubting) is between 90 and 100 grams of protein, not including the crab legs I plan on having for dinner.
If anybody sees any red flags, post up. I stuck to what the website said, and I'm still cold turkey on the ricotta and other cheeses. I have to admit though, I opened the bag of shredded cheddar this afternoon and took a big whiff. It was great, but it didn't pass my lips!
I can't wait to freakin' eat! (Though I haven't really been tortured by hunger, just the THOUGHT of eating.) Can't decide if I'm having chicken salad or tuna salad for breakfast or maybe just milk and cottage cheese...maybe I'll have that. (Waiting 30 minutes of course between the two!)
Good luck everybody...knowing that the rest of you are doing this is helping to keep me honest.
-Mike

I would not have tuna or chicken salad for breakfast. The cottage cheese seems more appropriate. Are you having protein drinks as well? I don't know, this seems like a lot. Not to mention you'll still have your water consumption as well.
You have three salads, all with mayo. A flavored olive oil would be a better choice. Some sesame oil would add an Asian flair to the tuna. You'd only need a half teaspoon at most. Something Italian would go nicely with the chicken. If this isn't an option I would suggest using fresh lemon instead. The real flavor of the food is masked in the mayo.
Don't forget, the fast restores your ability to taste food again! Savor the flavors and the nuances. On an aside note if tuna will be a staple in your diet, opt for the version packed in oil available from Italian specialty stores. It is superior to anything we generate here. Good luck!

I was kidding...it will be cottage cheese for breakkies...
As far as the mayo--I've probably got 1 1/2 tablespoons total among the three salads. The website didn't mention anything about flavored oils, but said we could have a little mayo.
No protein drinks tomorrow, but I still have to get the fluids in, so I'll be drinking all day. (Thank God I can still have the decaf coffee!) I'll report back tomorrow, but I'm even questioning whether or not I'll be able to eat all of that stuff I put together. Plus, this is only for one day, it's not like I'm doing this all the time.
As for the tuna in oil, I don't know if I can handle it. I'm REALLY funny about fish, and never ate tuna as a kid, because I didn't know you could get it packed in water instead. Even now, I only eat the albacore. The regular kind is too fishy tasting to me.
Also, I've got quite a bit of egg in store for tomorrow. My gas is already kicking at Mach 5...if I lean the right way, I could melt things behind me. Add the eggs to that, and I'm thinking I'll be the most popular (or poopular) person in the gym tomorrow afternoon! I'm dreading the elliptical--it kind of churns me up most days, tomorrow will probably create an ass-hurricane!
If y'all get a quick, warm, foul gust tomorrow around 4:00--it was me! Sorry in advance!
-Mike
