Trying a different program. It was bothering me that you can't see who is online and send other messages.

I would like to start having a couple of online support groups scheduled throughout the week when people can come together online - what times of the week do people like so I could put together a schedule? You don't necessarily have to attend, but I just want to have some 'common hours' for people that want to have a chance to talk.

Best,
John

John, this is so exciting! I've belonged to an IRC chat for a divorce support group for years... VTMoondog & I casually discussed getting an IRC chat for TT as well, but it's great if you can get this going..

We always had our chats at 9pm eastern on Saturday nights, but we choose Saturday cuz none of us had any life at the time

Since this forum an international flair, and there will be several a week, perhaps you might want to alternate start times on different days to help accommodate the different time zones? For me, I'd be able to do something starting from 7 up to say 9pm eastern depending on the length of the chat..

John, another WLS board I read has chat and on the front page you can see who is in the chat room. It's at the bottom, underneath the section that says "What's going on?" You already have that there so I'm assuming there is some way to show that, too. Thanks for adding the chat feature! It is awesome on the other board I read and will be great here, too!

Hi,
Some people have emailed me that the chat room is not logging them out when they exit the room.

I contacted the vendor, and they said that normally there is a small javascript pop-up that appears which kills the connection from the database. The problem is (a really stupid problem that should have been taken into consideration before) is that almost everyone with a modern browser has a pop-up blocker. So, I disabled this feature.

Pros: You will not be logged out if you do have a pop-up blocker.
Cons: The alternative method takes about 5 minutes to kick in, depending on the server load. This means that you won't be able to login again within about 5 minutes of closing the chat in the first place.

Hopefully this can be worked out in the next version of the software.

Thanks,
John
