My son Teddy is the "Cat Daddy" in our house, and he has two cats he raised from kittens.
Midi (short for "A Midsummer Night's Dream") is a Russian Blue, and is a huge queen of a cat. She loves to hug me around the neck, and actually says "Mama" when she does. (My son calls me Mama.) A few years ago she got out and was missing for about six months. Finally we saw an ad for a cat that was found several miles from our house. Sure enough, it was Midi. When we got out of the car to see if it was Midi, she took one look at me and meowed, "MAMA!" (She is very happy to be back home!)
Isis is a sweet little calico. She has a habit of eating anything resembling string. We though it was cute when she ate the tinsel from our Christmas tree, and then it came out the other end. We called her "Tinsel Butt." HOWEVER, we soon learned what we thought was so cute was actually dangerous and costly. She swallowed some thread and it got wound up in her intestine. She had major surgery to have it removed. Boy was THAT a costly experience! Unfortunately I am a quilter, so it's really hard to keep all the thread hidden.
