Personally, I think you ought to go ahead and stick your foot in the dating pool. You may as well get in some dates before you hit goal weight! I understand the hesitation though. I've wondered the same thing, and I'm nowhere near as close to goal as you are.

Dating is hard and not ready to find the "right" one for me. So dating is simply dating...going out to grab food, watch a movie, the usual. Once someone wants to ca me everyday...then I tell them, not the right relationship for me. If they need to talk to me everyday, that's too clingy for me.

I'm not the best advisor on this...it's like being a teenager all over again. It's awkward, uncertain, and takes some trust and faith.

for me .. i have dated 2 guys post-wls.

one knew me previously.. so he knew everythingggggg that happened prior to surgery, as my friend

and this new amazinggggg guy, is like 100% supportive of it. i was very upfront with him about it. I dont see why people hide it. His best bud, is my best friend's fiancee.. sooooo he was bound to find out about it.. and thats how we met anyways.. and they both know of my surgery

It's tough to date in general, and us with our new bodies don't know how to handle it. I'm loving every minute. This new guy makes me veryyyyyyyyy happy and thats all i can ask for ...

i wish you luck girly

Smile Go for it

Good Morning from the UK

I had to reply to this topic as I have met someone during my weight loss from a dating site and I will be getting married next January a year to the day we met. I still have over 30lbs to loose and will do that for my wedding as I had planned before I met Ian but now I have another goal to get there faster lol

I think you should go for it as it will make you feel on top of the world. I never thought I would feel ready to meet anyone so thought I would joining a dating site online and just chat. I had a few chats online then I met Ian and since then we are engaged and never spend a day apart. I still worry about the hanging skin and the further operations I will need in the future to make me feel comfy in my own body, I was honest from the start with Ian and he just coulndt believe I had lost all that weight and when it came to the bedroom I felt so embarrased.... but he put my mind at ease and for that it has made me feel much better about myself.

So dont hold back because of your weight because if someone loves you they will support you through the rest of your journey and make you feel like a new person all the way.

take care Dianne

Lindsey,
This is one of the great gifts you receive after making your decision to have the operation. If you want to date and there are people you are interested in, try and move past your fears. Look at all you have already accomplished in your life. 20 lbs from your goal, wow and congratulations.
I wish you success in the dating area and I really like what Marie said about dating. Keep it simple, fun and remember a date is a date, doesn't have to be anything more or less.
Go for it if you want it.

Smile It's working for me!

I recently put myself "out there" and met someone I really like thru e-harmony. Take a chance......you never know until you try.

Not only did I not date because of the extra weight but because I wanted my daughters to be grown. They are now and most of the weight is gone. I couldn't be happier in every aspect of my life. I knew the time was right for me, that doesn't mean it is for you, but if you're thinking about it, that's the first step toward realizing you're ready.

Go for it and good luck!
