Yeah, I saw that this morning on the news. Craziness. I would absolutely freak if we had an earthquake.

Default honey.. wake up!

yup, i'm about an hour south/se of st louis and thought that my husband was having a bad dream.. thrashing about in bed.. then realized he wasn't!

This was one of the largest to hit the midwest, registering a 5.2 and an aftershock this morning around 10:15am for another 4.5

Freaky! Now not only do i have to worry about the twisters.. but that darn new madrid fault line too!

I have to say though.. i thought that they were blasting the lime mines under the town again.. they do it twice a day as is.. one more big rattle and our whole damn town might go under

Yep I felt the second one too. Actually, according to the USGS, there have been 5 over 2.5 since the 4am wake up call. The second one this morning had the glass in my bedroom rattling!
Tornados no problem...Earthquakes though?? This is NOT a MIDWEST thing!! I would rather have a twister!

I guess I 'll be the dirty one who thought your "shakey bed" post was going to be from some other sort of earth moving experience . . . Haha.

On a less slutty note, I'm glad you all made it through your first quake. It's a personal dorky pleasure of mine to see people go through their 1st quake (if it's a small one). I live in San Diego and my roommate grew up in Virginia and had what I can best describe as a conniption (sp?) spazzing about a paltry 4.8. I have been through several mini-quakes over the years and the big Loma Prieta quake back in 1989 so I'm kind of immune I guess.

P.S.- Watch out for aftershocks they can sneak up on you. =0p

I agree. You can hide from the twister. THe earthquake may open up the earth and swallow you whole!

my hospital roommate said our room shook a bit here in Downers Grove, IL, but I slept through it as I had a lousy night.
