Pat and Nisa's Fantastic wedding day
Yep, 22 years ago today, I was in the Philippines marrying the young lady I had, up until that time, written to for the previous 4 months. We had only been together for a mere 7 days.
We both took a big chance, and took a giant leap of faith. I love her so much more than ever. We are complete opposites, but we compliment each other. She took the biggest risk. She left everything she's ever known in the Philippines to come here and start a new life with me. We knew of each other only through letters (we were pen-pals), and a few phone calls until I came over to be with her and her family - for 10 days.
She arrived in the US with nothing more than a suitcase. All I had was a car and shared an apartment with a close friend.
Nisa is my best friend, partner, and lover. She is my strength. She understands me better than I do myself.
Airfare to marry her: $1200
Marriage License: 4 packs american cigarettes (seriously)
Our life together: Priceless!
